Nancy S Daily Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Nancy S Daily Check In

Post by nancys » Fri Oct 07, 2016 6:52 pm

After trying every diet on the planet, I started No S-ing on Wednesday. Decided to start a daily check in to keep myself accountable.

Day 1 - Success! Not a bad first day although my dinner plate was very full. We ate very late that night due to my husband and son working in the fields late.

Day 2 - Success! We met friends for dinner at Mexican and I did not touch the chips and salsa. I just stuck to my dinner. The plate was huge so I didn't eat everything.

I have been creeping for a while and now ready to take the plunge. Thanks for all of the tips and info you all share!

cool...I heaped my plates pretty full to start, too. It didn't take long before I was tuning in to my stomach's full signals and my plates have gradually decreased.

Just stick to it...food sanity is LOVELY.

Yep my plates were piled high for awhile too! Habit first, portion sizes second!

Welcome & best of luck!

10/7 - Success. Grabbed a salad for lunch - not quite enough to see me through. I will plan better next time. Hunger did not kill me but I was unpleasant to be around for about an hour.

Looking forward to an S day today - we have a wedding and it is nice not to have to worry about what I am going to eat

10/8 - S Day. Wow - I ate a lot between the wedding and the pumpkin bread I had for breakfast. Hoping to rein it in for today. Just felt a little yucky to eat so much throughout the day.

10/9 - S Day. I felt like I ate some stuff just because I could, not because I truly wanted it.

10/10 - SUCCESS. A good day! I even resisted treats at Bible Study tonight.

Well done for resisting at Bible study! A friend came to an event at our church and said to me, 'what is it about you people and cake?!'
