I'm in! I'm taking Monday the9th as an S day because I'll be out of town. January19 is my bday. Jan30: I just don't give a rip about anything lately! Tried to get back on track today and discovered we had a few slices of lemon meringue pie left. We're going out of town next week for a few days. Hopefully I'll relieve some stress and regroup. Although, I probably won't be able to de_ stress because our son will be with us. I feel guilty saying that ,but he is having some bad days lately. He can't help it( autism) but that doesn't make it any easier.

I'm so ready to start the new year!
As of January 4th, nuts will now be considered a snack no matter how they are measured.

1/6: Total late night binge (sneaked 2 feet from hubby watching movie). ice cream, muffins, nuts, chips/ dip. Major stressing out over family stuff got the best of me.
1/16: Moravian cookies that neighbor brought over
1/20: Sam's pizza mishap, small nut slip up
1/25: Ambien-induced middle of night Golden Grahams fiasco

Fri 6th - see daily check in, going to mark it as a fail because I should have planned ahead better.
Monday 23rd I have lost a stone since my heaviest at the end of last August. 10lb of that has been with NoS. I had already started cutting out sugar but was substituting sugary snacks with nuts, cheese etc. Thank goodness I discovered NoS!

I know it's weird--I actually started the year with a green day! I was with friends out of town and ended up with Friday & Saturday as yellow days. I was planning ahead of time to still take Sunday as a yellow day but woke up this morning all sugared and snacked out & decided I would just plain feel better with a green day! I'm looking forward to getting back into a regular pattern this week. I hope everyone has a great month!

Yes that's exactly it. Also if you know you have special days coming up in the week like a birthday, you can mark it in advance in yellow so you're planning ahead. I forget if its two or three per month maximum, someone else will come along and remind me!

Merry, there's nothing weird about not having S's on and S day. It's the way many S days work out after awhile. But they are still S days because S's are still an allowable option.

But it's also true that some people always or nearly always have at least one S on an S day, though it may be small. Both are normal!

I'm experimenting with a smaller plate for dinner. It's 7 1/4" rim to rim and I having been filling all of it, esp. when there are a few offerings on the table. I'm a short 60 y/o and rather sedentary, and my cooking is on the rich side. I don't want to change that, (and some things I can't change, lol) so hence the smaller plate.

I had been eating off of an 8 1/2" plate (luncheon size) for years, even before No S, but weight still needs to come down to feel comfortable.

Currently with the plate change, I've been hungrier now between meals, and when it comes to dinnertime I almost feel like I've gone back to the IF.

Previously (M-F), I didn't eat breakfast often, but now I've been eating a small one each No S day.

Right now, it feels diet-y because I'm hungrier, but I'd like to stick with this for a month, in hopes my body gets used to the smaller portions.

We'll see.

When I started, one of my goals was to feel hunger before every meal. I figured out how to purposely eat so that I would get hungry an hour or two before the next meal. That worked pretty well for a few years. I miss that feeling! Now I can go all day never feeling real hunger, but still very much desiring food. I'd much rather have real hunger. But I can't gladly eat little enough to feel it very often. I've had days I ate only 500 calories and never felt any hunger, nor even the next day at breakfast. Poor me, huh?

Hope the plate keeps working for you.

Thanks, Oolala. It's gets harder to feel that stomach hunger the older we get without putting a very small amount on each plate. My mother who is 91 - and was overweight most of her adult life - eats a tiny bit at a time now, because that's all she can fit. The Dr. wants her to gain weight. I wouldn't want to eat that little bit, but I'm hoping my body adjusts to the lesser food. But we all know it doesn't take much to undo that adjustment!

Sounds like your mom is okay with small amounts. I actually WANT to eat even more often than when I was feeling true hunger more often, though I don't necessarily want big meals once I start eating. I've been annoyed by that for more than a year. I need to accept the situation...

Oolala, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to not feel hungry. Your post made me very grateful for my growling tummy yesterday.

I'm doing okay. Feeling the sadness, and sometimes it's difficult to just not stuff all that sadness down with a dumping of food.

I had a couple of white knuckle moments yesterday, but I am eating enough food, so I just distracted myself and rode them out. I did have a glass of milk a few hours after dinner..but I think that's still vanilla.

It's actually not the lack of hunger. It's still wanting to eat anyway. If my desire would go away with my hunger, I think I wouldn't care!

The eating has been paired with so many things, it's incredible. Good feelings, tough feelings, aromas, people, places, memories of people and places, seeing food, seeing people eating, and on and on. That's another reason No S is so smart. Undercut it all. Yes, some pairings are more painful to uncouple. But YOU can get through a few hours until the next meal. It just takes practice. Kind of like a baseball player learning to field grounders. If no one ever hits them to him, how can he practice and be ready for the game?

LOL, definitely weird and abnormal here! I should have known I was going to get sick!

Joining you, even though we're well into January!

My goal right now is not to have a certain number of green days for the month, but to establish the habit of recording green/red days without too much self-flagellation.

Good for you. Self flagellation is best avoided!
Greetings from Reidsville, NC. Enjoying the snow? (I'm visiting my aunt over the holidays here)

Lovely--Reidsville is quite far from the horn of Africa. And yes, the snow is fun! My dogs are happy for the change and my legs are glad to have an excuse not to do my weekend outdoor running. :-) Enjoy your visit!

StephC, if you use the orange font color you will see your numbers better, and it still looks yellowish.

Hi Tortle, I saw your update. I hope you are ok. Hunger is difficult, but the reflux is a complicating factor for you. I'm sorry I can't offer much in the way of advice as I'm so new to this. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will be able to offer advice. 🤗

Thank you, Lozie. I think the medication I'm taking is contributing to the problem. I saw my doctor last week, and he's working with me to get down to a lower dose. *fingers crossed*

OOps, Mariposa, I got mixed up and thought this was the 2017 team and added you to the group committed for a year. Is that okay? You can still use this as your main check in.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with you that's not also wrong with any place where food is more and more available and there are no social customs limiting intake. I don't care what they say about thin people monitoring their food. They are not as stimulated by food as some of us and are more sensitive to overeating. But they aren't normal.

Thankfully, mostly meal-based eating helps even those who aren't naturally thin to be moderate.

i can testify to that... almost all my life i have been naturally thin... never monitored ablsolutely anything, quite the contrary i could go and stuff all the extras i ever wanted... and sometimes i was even frustrated how skinny i was (teenage years)...
aging slowly but surely started changing that so that is why i had to correct it at one point and why i need noS to keep it and not to end up like my mum, also naturally thin all her life up untill the mid thirties (where she started dieting with zero effects whatsoever)... and became not obese but overweight to the point that it impacts her back problems, cholesterol and glucose...
i have to say that also i do come from thin cultures...
