Weekly check in, or maybe it's been two weeks.
7/1-Sat = Yellow -Walked 3 M
7/2-Sun = Yellow -Walked 3 M
7/3-Mon = Green -No walk
7/4-Tues = Yellow(4th of July holiday)-Walk 3 M
7/5-Wed = Green, Walked 3 M, swimming with gr. kids.

7/6-Thurs.= Fail(driving home from concert in Md. and stopped for coffee and Tastycake krimpets at close to midnight, which I split with wife)
a.m. light rain this morning, hopefully walk later. started day at dentist, which took forever. Gave me some type of treatment telling me at 10:20 that I can't eat for four hours, wonderful timing.

7/7-Friday = Success
a.m. pouring rain storm, so walk will have to come later.
p.m. Bike rides with kids and swim in pool. My granddaughter who's a very mature almost 11 year old is getting a bit much to throw around in the pool, so my back is complaining now.

I dont' know how I got out of sync with your check-in. I'm still envious of your consistent exercise.

I"m not sure if you're looking for any other feedback than just keep going. I know that honestly there were many times in the past I was struggling but also wasn't really willing to do that much more to change, and I wasn't very good about taking suggestions, though I think I usually kept that to myself. I hope.

Habit theory says that bright lines, keeping track, and rewarding success with very little drama over failure has the most bang for the buck. It sounds like you're doing most or all of that.

Thanks oolala, I do appreciate your comments. I'm fairly consistent with my exercise and had some slip ups with my No S habit. We keep too many snacks around the house for grand kids who are with us during their parents' work day, so it's where I struggle.

7/8-Sat
a.m.-Walked 3 M; 1-1/2 hrs of yard work. Planning on restarting the Five Tibetan rites on Monday.

Do you think you could possibly just regard the snacks as THEIR food, food that is just not yours (even though you paid for it!)? Almost like a medication they need, but you don't? I dunno.

In France, only children are thought to need to snack, and they do it between lunch and dinner only. The adults don't allow themselves the option. They don't eat any of the "snack" food with them or not. It's just a mindset. Children eat snacks. Adults don't.

It doesn't have to happen overnight, or ever....

walk later if it doesn't rain.
Walked 3 Miles-mid morning.

p.m. two bike rides and pool swim with g.k.'s

7/11-Tues =S day(wasn't feeling well in p.m.)
a.m. T5TR
Walked 3 M.
p.m. -no other activ's. Had a late night snack, since I ate a very light dinner. I think our appetites tell us when we're feeling better.

7/12-Wed = Success
a.m.-planned walk after breakfast, which today was a cheese bagel, coffee, and OJ, and that felt like too much.
Walked 3 M-very hot and humid already at 9:00 a.m.
Dinner was spaghetti and meatballs, one helping of spagh. about 5-6 mb's, but wife doesn't make them huge, salad with blue cheese--no hunger pangs all evening.

7/13-Thurs = Fail
going to skip walk today, sore toe that probably got hurt with kids in pool. So I'll make the effort to do a kbell/cals workout this afternoon.
p.m. kbell/cals workout. Fin. a project outside on my deck swing, and the heat made me cut my workout short.

p.m. started tear down on my 10 x 12 wooden garden shed that I built about 35-40 years ago. Seriously hard work physically.

7/16-Sun
More demo work today to my wife's chagrin. Too nice a day to sit around.

7/17-Mon = Success
a.m.-T5TR
a.m.-p.m.: demo work continues for my phys activ's.
p.m. swim with grandkids.
dinner was roast beef with potatoes in crock pot and salad/blue cheese dressing.

7/18-Tues = Success
a.m. T5TR(@15r's )
no walk today, was doing a home improv. project for daughter all day.
Wife had a late dr. apt. with specialist so we ate out for dinner.
dinner was a meatball sub and ff's-not healthy but it met my req's. She did somewhat better with veg. lasagna and a tossed salad.

7/19-Wed = Fail
a.m. T5TR
Walked 3+ Miles; 70% humidity and very hot today.
I managed to hurt my r. shldr today so I will not be doing any activ's upper body related for a while, other than rehab stuff.

7/20-Thur = Success
No activ's other than grocery shopping and skimmed pool.
Dinner, fresh sausage, baked potato, 1-1/2 cobs of corn.

7/21-Fri = Fail
a.m. Walk 3 miles.

7/22-Sat-since I've injured my shoulder it looks like Walking is going to be my only major activity for a while. That's not bad, it will get me to focus more on NoS which has only been about 60% Green these last several weeks.
-Walk 3 M, already a sauna at 7:30 a.m.

Thanks. It's marginally better, at least it didn't keep me awake all last night, like the previous two. I'm actually thankful for my great health over the years. This is nothing compared to what some on our forum are facing recently.

7/23-Sun
Did an hour of demo work for my phy. activ's today.

7/24-Mon = Success
Happy Birthday Mom
Glad to be back on N-days for a stretch. Lots of rain yesterday and last evening which was needed. Hope to get my walk in later.
p.m. Walked 2 M with g.s. in afternoon, may have been a bit much for him. We had to stop and rest under a shade tree and a nice man offered water, which I gave him.
Swim with gk's earlier, plus short bike ride. Earlier I'd set a lot of clothing in bags in front of our garage plus strollers(3), booster chair, high chair, car seat, motorized kiddie car, and play pen for a local Veteran's charity to pick up. they failed to show up and informed us they can't till next month now. Wife managed to take the clothing to Good will while we swam, but the big stuff is still sitting out there, kind of annoying.
late evening walk of 3 Miles, so 5 M total today. temps a lot nicer in evening, plus we had a thunder storm earlier.

7/25-Tues = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M
Dinner, pulled pork sandwich on kaiser roll with 4 large steak fries, ice tea

7/26-Wed = Success
a.m. Walk 3 M
p.m. bike ride w/g.s.

7/27-Thur = Success
Brk: Bagel w/Philly cream cheese, dish of homemade fruit salad, coffee w/milk&cinnamon. Fruit salad tasted great, but I want to see if this carries me all the way to lunch. (It did but I had to brew a late morning coffee with 1 tsp of raw sugar for sweetener and milk)

Lch: Sandwich with Ciabatta roll from Walmart's in-store bakery, ham, dried beef, swiss cheese, 2-3 tbsp of macaroni salad, few chips, small glass of milk, coffee.(my lunches are not that varied, some days soup like jambalaya or gumbo, or leftovers from previous dinners).

p.m. going to delay my walk to evening, as I'm hanging out with g.s. while wife goes to dr. apt.
Missed my walk, played guitar on deck swing early evening and totally forgot it.

7/28-Fri = Success
7/29-Sat
a.m. Walked 3 Miles, saw three hawks. One bigger one appeared to be feeding a smaller one on top of a telephone pole.

7/30-Sun-kept snacks pretty light, but def. ate heavier at meals, no walk. Shooting for two weeks in a row with Five Green days.

7/31-Mon = Success
a.m. Walked 3 miles, bike ride with g.s. later on-his longest to date.

8/1-Tues = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M
activ's are still restricted with my shoulder. did manage some light inverted arm circles rehab stuff.

Thanks for the positive comments oolala. July felt like my way back, but leaves room for improvement. I had a manager years ago, that said, I'm my own worse critic.

8/2-Wed = Fail
a.m. Walked 3 M; longish bike ride with g.k.'s. Both came back with red faces, so this afternoon would have been too hot take a ride. I see it's 107-108 deg. F in Portland where my son's family lives.
p.m. -2nd shorter bike ride with g.s. plus swim in pool with both gk's.
Dinner at Outback, ribs, salad, and shared a pc. of cheesecake at home. also had a small number of pistachios with g.s. in the afternoon. Move on.

8/3-Thur = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M; bike ride with g.s. until his chain came off. Didn't have my tools along, so I him put on my top frame tube and came back for the car to pick up his bike.
p.m. rather extensive pool cleaning after yday's storm. Swim with g.k.'s
Dinner: smoked pork chop, mashed potatoes, cup of chicken supreme. saved a 2nd pork chop for lunch.

8/4-Fri = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M
Bike ride, so I have to restrict g.s. from this one sidewalk he likes to ride on because people have a young pitbull tied to a skinny rope near the sidewalk. A lot of people walk their dogs on this walk, so it may be trouble in the future.
p.m. long play time with gk's in pool, I'm beat.
Dinner; spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad w/blue cheese dressing

8/6-Sun
Ate a BIT too much this weekend, but worked pretty hard both days doing yard work and helping to cut up two trees that had fallen on my now destroyed garden shed. It was all down, except the floor.

8/7-Mon(used an S day) took wife to hospital for surgery early today.
eating at odd times, and not really meals. everything is good with her.

8/8-Tues = Success
Okay, back to an N day, want to get my walk in this morning. Sun is out after another rainy day. This has been the rainiest July and August in recent memory.
a.m. Walked 3 Miles
p.m. 1-1/2 hr. of demo work, floor boards removed and cut up. ate rather lightly today, feel slightly hungry at the moment.

8/9-Wed = Fail
a.m. Walked 3 M
not a great week with wife recuperating. ate 2-1/2 pieces of pizza for dinner plus a 7.5 oz. cherry coke, not great choices.

8/10-Thur = Success
8/11-Fri = Success
a.m. bike ride with g.s. and played ball in backyard.
p.m. had an all day activity thing with my g.s.(he wasn't here in a week) and I'm kind of beat. Wife is still recuperating and I wanted to keep him from bugging her to do things. We laugh at a lot of celebrities(men) who father their first child at my age or older and what their days must be like.
8/12-Sat
a.m. Riding lots of hills on bike with g.s.-I asked him if we could take a break, haha.
8/13-Sun
a.m. Walked 3 Miles

8/14-Mon = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M; bike ride with g.s.

8/15-Tues = Fail
a.m. rainy/cloudy today; taking wife to Dr. to get her post op check up and a stent removed from her nasal passage. Not looking forward to that. Walk later hopefully.
p.m. no real physical activities today worth reporting

8/16-Wed = Success
a.m. Yard work, hauled an old bed frame out for garbage pick up tomorrow.
p.m. finished (finally) my shed demo. took longer using mostly one arm. Now I have to rent a large dumpster to throw it away.
dinner was chili-mac and hot dogs with glass of milk, coffee afterwards.

8/17-Thur = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M; bike ride with gk's.

8/18-Fri(wife's birthday)= S day
a.m. Walked 3 M
p.m.-ate a light dinner, more like lunch

8/19-Sat
a.m. Walked 3 M, humidity has been in low 70% range all week

8/21-Mon = Success
a.m. Walked 3 M
p.m. trimmed shrubs during solar eclipse-didn't look up.
late afternoon IPA to replenish liquids-
Got word my grandson was camping out with his mom at Madras, Oregon to view the total eclipse, can't wait to hear his report. It looked spectacular on tv.
Dinner: roast beef in crockpot, fresh green beans from neighbor's garden, baby whole potatoes, kaiser roll to dip in broth, coffee.

8/22-Tues = Success
a.m. 2+ hours finishing trimming shrubs-heat and humidity draining. no other phy. activ's for day.

8/23-Wed = Failure
a.m. Walked 3 M; helped daughter get her car battery charged, and lo and behold, she has a flat tire on her Rav4 at same time. Wheel would not come off after removing lug nuts? So I climbed underneath and gave it few nudges with a sledge hammer(shovelglove lying on your side), that did the trick. Returned home, and g.s. and I went on a bike ride.

8/24-Thur = Success
Dinner: salad w/blue cheese drsng, ham, potatoes, peas, coffee(ate small portions as my lack of activ's didn't make me very hungry). Been kind of low energy with my aching shoulder.

8/25-Fri = Success
a.m. Two bike rides with g.s.
p.m. Yard work; extra bike ride with both gk's. I hit the sack early, before
hunger pangs arrived.
Dinner: Hot roast beef sandwich, salad w/blue cheese dressing, corn on cob.

8/26-Sat
a.m. Walked 3 Miles
Dinner was pizza and wings, small dish of ice cream and coffee.

8/27-Sun
no walk today. not a great weekend eating wise either.

8/28-Mon(Anniversary = S Day)
Dinner at Outback-excellent-6oz. Sirloin/Shrimp on the Barbie, large salad, ice tea=way too full. No room for dessert. Wife had shrimp and Aussie Fries. She left about half the fries on her plate. tasted like the were rolled in salt to me.
Two bike rides with gk's today, and played ball in back yard after school. Typical brother and sister very competitive in spite of age differences.
Got news over the weekend that an old high school friend died of Alzheimers down in Chapel Hill, N. C. He worked most of his career for the IRS as an accountant.
8/29-Tues = Failure

8/30-Wed = Success
a.m. walked 3 M; bike ride with g.s.
p.m. worked around yard

8/31-Thur = Success
a.m. Walked 3 miles
Month of August was less than stellar, have 5 Red days this month. Didn't have any all out eatathons on S or N days. Sept. has got to be better. I'm planning that it will be better, not perfect.

9/1-Friday;(that was a quick August, mostly treading water with my lack of NoS focus) = Success
a.m. Walked 3 Miles; not happy with my activities level.

9/2-3 Sat & Sun
longish bike ride with g.s. on Sun. He's become quite the hill climber. Kept my S-days reasonable, few snacks. Booked flights to SanFran and Portland for late this month to visit family.

9/4-Mon Holiday
Walked 3 M
9/5-Tues = Fail
Walked 3 M
9/6-Wed = Success
No walk, raining most of day. Did ride bikes with gk's after school in the drizzle.

Yes I did two bike rides with grand kids, one in morning and one after school. Hope you made it outside.

9/7-Thurs=Success
9/8-Fri=Fail
Bike riding last two days. Unfortunately, my damaged shoulder hasn't helped me with resolve to not snack, while taking lots of ibuprofen.
Providing taxi service for daughter to go work, who has her arm in a sling as well.
9/9-Sat
woke up at 2:30 a.m. and got up to take more pain killers and didn;t get back to bed, so I'll be dragging around 9:00 p.m. tonight
We're having fried chicken from the deli for dinner.

9/11-Mon = Success
a.m. Walked 3 Miles
Dinner: Italian wedding soup & Lebanon bologna and fried egg sandwich, coffee.

9/12-Tues = Fail
a.m. Walk 3 M

9/13-Wed = Success
a.m. Started out at Dr's apt for shoulder. They said I lost 13 lbs since last visit(fully clothed), so that was the highlight. Headed to Phy. Therapy before Insurance will spring for an MRI, normal protocol, was expected.
Raining so, walks will have to happen later today.
p.m.-No walk, but bike riding with g.k.'s. Doc started me on 7 day protocol for steroids(oral) and feeling pretty good. I experienced these twice before after injuries, and it's easy to see how athletes liked to use them before they were illegal. Will take something else for nerve pain in my rib cage. I haven't taken prescr. drugs for a long time.

9/14-Thur = Fail small but still red
a.m. long bike ride with g.s., went to park where he played a while. Lots of hill climbs there and back.
Slept like a log last night, more like the living dead, since I felt like a zombie most of the morning. Not sure I can continue that med. Have my first shoulder phy. therapy on Tuesday.

9/15-Fri(today would have been my parent's 87th wedding anniversary-they eloped to Hagerstown, Md. to get married during the depression)= Success
a.m. Bike ride with g.s. before lunch after his nursery school.
p.m.- Grandson rode without training wheels the first time we tried it. I was prepared to run along side, but doubt I could have kept up with him. He's four years old, and by far the easiest person I've taught to ride in our family.

9/18-Mon = Success
Weekend wasn't too overboard as to snacks or meals. But then my activity level wasn't very good. Glad to be back to a Monday. Probably didn't think that too often when I was still working, even though I mostly liked my job. Often loved things about it, or certain projects.

9/19-Tues = Fail
a.m. first day of phy. therapy for shoulder, left me somewhat sore, but not terrible. She said I have might have some damage to my labrum, judging from a popping noise. Hopefully not. I said that I thought labrum injuries were especially painful, and right now mine isn;'t too bad, of course I can;t do much with it either.
9/20-Wed = Success
a.m. Walked 2M in light drizzle at 4:30 a.m.

9/21-Thurs = Success
a.m. Walked 2 M(4:00 a.m.)
Rode bike with g.s.
p.m. Walked 3 M(mid afternoon, too hot)

9/22-Fri = Success
a.m. Second day of PT went well, shoulder felt fatigued, but not the pain of previous PT's. Hoping to avoid another surgery and lengthy rehab.
No walks today, but rode bikes as usual with both gk's.(twice).
Dinner was smoked pork chops, baked potato(sour cream) and cole slaw.

9/23, 9/24-Sat/Sun
Two more days of PT for shoulder, and it's improving pain-wise, but clicking noise seems to be here to stay. Eating was moderate S-days over weekend. Did manage to transplant a small oak tree without doing any damage. Last tree I tried to do that died.

9/25-Mon = Success
a.m. Phy therapy session.
I'm going to start tracking my coffee intake on a habitcal with the short-term goal to reducing to two cups a day. Long term goal to eliminate altogether, if that's possible. I'm following Allisonmeg's idea to substitute herbal tea. 3 cups coffee

9/26-Tues = Success
a.m. Getting ready for trip to SF & Portland, bought new shoes.
p.m. walked 3 miles-early evening. 2 cups of coffee, headache most of the day, may or may not be related. did my shldr therapy exercises in afternoon.

9/27-Wed = Success
a.m. PT session, had a different PT, was more challenging.
p.m. Pack for trip-My SIL volunteered to drive me to airport which will save about $100+ for parking fees. Eating for next 10 days will be somewhat of a challenge.

10/9-Mon = Success
Back from 10 days in San Francisco bay area & Portland, Oregon visiting family. Snacking was kept pretty much under control, but meal sizes and irregular times were difficult to control. To be honest I didn't really try. Most days, stayed under 2 drink min. except first day in Or. Good to be home and get back on the NoS train.

10/10-Tues = Fail
No walking. We're planning on visiting a local orchard with the g.s.
Most of my exercise activ's at moment are rehabbing a shoulder, that most likely has a torn labrum (waiting for MRI). Now a large blister has curtailed my walking for a few days. I bought new walking sneakers prior to trip, the exact same brand I have used for 15 years, so I'm not sure how I developed a sore toe?

10/11-Wed = Success
a.m. PT
10/12-Thurs = Success
a.m. woke up shldr. "killing" me from yday's PT
@ home pt
10/13-Fri = Success
a.m. PT today
10/14-Sat
a.m. discomfort from PT much better after reporting to therapist.
p.m. @ home pt
10/15-Sun
p.m. PT exercises
May try a short 1.5 mile walk tomorrow to see if blister is up to it.

I'm sorry to hurt about the blister and the shoulder injury. I hope you recover easily and well.

DH was just out in Portland visiting friends. Beautiful part of the world.

Thank you Larkspur. I love it "out there". Been going for about 20 years. So while I'm there, perfect sunny fall weather. I return to Pa cloudy, damp and rainy for several days. Go figure. Blister is healing, shoulder, not so sure without another surgery. Not the end of world at 66.

a.m. 1 hr. of PT-felt stronger than Friday's session.
p.m.-bike ride, legs felt out of condition since it's been 2 weeks.
10/17-Tues = Success

10/18-Wed = Fail
Pt-a.m.
starting with a head cold, so went to therapy half asleep from cold meds
10/19-20, Don't remember how I ate last 2-3 days, but not very much, probably a few snacks and a couple of small bowls of soup. Finally got the pressure in my head to be bearable, since it migrated to my chest. Then today, I went out onto our deck and tripped over our cat trying to make a break for it. landed on my already ailing shoulder, so it's not been a good week. No permanent damage.

10/23-Mon
a.m. PT, one more session before I'm to see an orthopod, reg. dr. on Friday. Head Cold is vastly improved today.
p.m. working on fixing three bikes for gk's. A neighbor was throwing them out to trash, and two of the three are in ride-able condition, and the next size up for gd and gs. Both are excited to get a 2nd bike to keep at their house, so the pressure is on. It's amazing what people throw away in our society. I know there's a whole "black market" for people who collect other people's trash and recycle via yard sales/flea markets. LOL, and I'm the last person that would have ever considered that as a past time, or business venture.

11/2/17-Thurs
No S has been hit or miss the past couple of weeks, since returning from my west coast trip. Finished with my phy therapy for shoulder and awaiting an MRI scheduled for 11/11- first available one. What I thought was a blister on toe from walking looks now to be athlete's foot and has curtailed my walking. Still riding with grand kids. On top of everything, I got a head-cold from Hades and still have the dry cough. got to get back on the program. On a positive note, at my doctor's visit last Friday I hadn't gained any pounds.

11/10-Friday
Exercise has mostly been shoulder rehab at home version along with two to three bike rides with grand kids. Today it was a blustery cold ride, hands were cold even with light gloves. Cold is much improved, and I should be able to resume walking in the next couple days.
11/15-Wed
Got my first walk in since developing the blister on my toe last month. Cut it short to about 2 miles to see how it feels. Tomorrow is follow-up on MRI, pretty much know what he'll say. NoS taking a back seat lately, but haven't been terrible.

11/16-Thur
a.m. Dr. Visit-headed to orthopod on 11/27 to get ball rolling. MRI says I have one completely torn rotator cuff tendon, one partially torn, and two intact tendons. Plus moderate arthritic wear and tear. On top of this news, I'm getting a CT scan next week to see what's up with my rib/lung surgery site. Pain and mild swelling persists 3 years later. I've complained to two different docs on this since one year follow up. And since my last dr. visit a few weeks back, I managed to lose 2 more pounds in spite of 50/50 adherence to NoS? I'm attributing that to no alcohol since my trip early last month. Good times ahead...LOL.

Sorry about all the body work needed. If you lead an active life, I guess there's going to be wear and tear. I hope it all goes really smoothly and you can plough ahead with minimal life disruption.

Thanks Larkspur, believe it or not, I read an article this week about head transplants. So.... maybe I can do a whosonfirst-vers2.0.

last two days, long bike rides with g.s.-kind of cold and windy at the start. we have both gk's today, no school, so probably more of same. NoS still on 50/50 compliance until I get around some of these health things.
11/24-Black Friday(67 today )
took a 2 mile walk yesterday in the cold before Thanksgiving dinner. Had two drinks for first time in over a month.
Have a CT scan this afternoon, was supposed to be Wed. they called me literally 5 mins. before leaving for med center to cancel because their new computer system with my records had some info in that they couldn't figure out who'd put it there.

Thanks oolala. Not going anywhere. Just facing some health issues at the moment that makes my eating plan kind of secondary. Have one surgery next month, and possibly a second one depending on my latest tests. Hard to keep your head in the game. Glad to see others having success and/or getting started again on NoS.

11/30-Thurs-Walked 2 miles. And took bike ride with grandson. While I almost never step on a scale any more, my doctors visits have made it a requirement. So I reported only a couple weeks ago, that I'd lost weight (3 lbs). So this past Monday, I visited another doctor, it was +4 lbs! So I'm putting the blame on starting to bring alcohol back into the equation, mostly IPA's. I will continue to ignore scales at home, and focus back on NoS habits.

12/01-Friday, Update on one health issue, my CT scan came back as normal, so only one thing to get repaired at the moment. Headed out for our first bike ride until gs's big sister gets home, weather is sunny and pleasant today.

I think it really can't be overstated that a commitment to the process is what brings the greatest achievements. Hope you have a nice week.

Whew on the CT scan! Happy news.

I think dr's scales vary. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I hope you don't have to give up your nice IPAs. My husband has one beer a day and it gives me great satisfaction to see him drink it. He works really hard and he benefits from the bottled relaxation Smile

Hey thanks Larkspur. I'm with your hubby on IPA's. And I'm off all prescription meds again. When other people have asked me what prescriptions I'm on, I always proudly tell them, none, I self medicate.

1/01/18-Happy New Year
activ's for last week, since Dec. 24-walked 5 x 3 Miles in frigid conditions. Cold is tolerable except when it's been very windy. Biked a couple times as well but kept it short due to very windy on those days. Since Holidays are basically over(almost) I'll try to get my NoS back on track leading up to Jan 16, when my bum shoulder gets gets repaired. Want to try the One Minute workout if I can find a suitable alternative if one arm is temp. disabled.

1/17/18-surgery +1 day. went well i guess. doc said there was extensive bicep damage as well. said i alm waited 2 long. not sure why my pain threshold isnt giving me more notice. WEll its telling me now!! haha. my theory is decades of dealing with back issues has ratcheted up tolerance.

on weighing last 5 times on digital medical scales; -4 +8 -4 +4 -8 this over about 2 months. my next visit at surgeon next wed which was heaviest basically an 8 lb swing. eating lightly for a while. also have arm immobilized for 5 weeks.

good spirits looking forward to seeing grandkids to show off my gunslinger contraption. gs will want to try it.

edit- walked 1M, very cold.

2/12-Mon
Walked less than 1/2 mile yesterday, been raining or drizzling last 3 days so I've not walked my usual distances.
Trying NoS this week with this mod-instead of sweet/salty snacks, I will modify to fruit when needed. How I've eaten most of my life, with good success. Appetite is still low, so that helps somewhat. Arm/shoulder healing slowly but improving. Misting again yet today for the 4th day in a row, but it beats snow that hit mid-west states.
Fail

2/13-Tues
a.m. cold 2M walk felt good. minor red yesterday-popcorn late evening.
Success

2/14=Wed
Success
Walk 1.5M

Walked 2M-spring like temps in Feb.

2/16-Fri
Walk 2M-arm bouncing in sling has caused me neck pain during last two days walk, when my walk is almost finished about 3/4 of the distance. May shorten up and skip two days.
Fail-only running at 50% so far.

I'm with you about mist beating snow. I have a friend in Minneapolis. She moved back there after seven years in SoCal because she likes the change of seasons. Boy, she's gettin' 'em!

3/1/18-Thurs
finally got my bump-sling removed yday after 6wks+1 day. Now onward to rehab for six weeks(prob). Started dr's specif rehab at home with door pulley and a few other free range moves. On a good note, my weight at surgeon's office scale which has been the heaviest by +4 lbs. over other digital drs. scales showed me down two pounds, so I can get my NoS diet more focused again. I may use some low carb/high protein for a jump start in conjunction which in my case was my most successful method over the years. I find that protein and good high fats satiate my appetite better so I can stick to NoS with fewer snacking fails. Processed foods are my boogeyman.

I think processed foods are most everyone's boogeyman. They just do a number on our satiety systems. Or rather they don't- their cutoff satiety point is so low that it takes a lot to feel like you've had enough. All populations that get easy access to manufactured foods get heavier and sicker, although some individuals do not. To use what Reinhard said about people (the minority) who can eat without much scrutiny and stay slim, if we're reading here, we're not them.

Glad to hear about the new phase in your treatment.

Hey, that's exciting to have the sling removed! Good luck with your rehab exercises.

I basically had to repost Oolala's entire comment because it is SO TRUE. I swear, if I had to eat whole foods 24/7, I would look amazing. Laughing Laughing

I think it's interesting that you said if you HAD to eat whole foods 24/7. I guess we'd have to be on some remote island or something.

It reminds me of a cartoon I saw in New Yorker magazine in Tehran (I think they had a Middle Easter version) in which there was a Middle Eastern bread baker standing in front of one of the ovens they made fresh bread in every day; people often went out just before meal time to buy some. An American tourist was frustratedly asking, "Cheeze Puffs, dang it? Don't you have any Cheeze Puffs?" This was in 1978. Now, I'm sure they have Cheeze Puffs, or their own version of them now.

The middle aged women of Iran were often pretty chunky without much junk food. Cultural prerogative.

3/7/18-Wed-Day 1 -reboot NoS with fruit mods. = Success. My mods today were an apple and sm. box of raisins with mid-afternoon coffee(milk-no sugar)
I'm also scheduled for my phy therapy evaluation this afternoon for rebuilding my repaired shoulder. Ready to get this underway.
Starting Wt-217 lbs. Ht-6'-3", was still 6-4 a decade ago
Goal Wt -205 lbs.(was going to set it at 210 lbs. but looking in a mirror, that isn't much of a goal)

3/8-Thurs-Success mods were small 1oz. box of raisins and apple.
Did my home pt, and was very sore last evening, so may back off until Tues when my 1st official PT happens.

3/9-Fri = Success(3 in a row, recent record) today's only mod was a banana with afternoon cup of coffee. ate a smallish lunch , but enjoyed a full plate of pork roast with filling and green beans for dinner. Restarted playing(learning) guitar since my bump-sling was removed. Next month will be year one, although I missed almost two months due to limited motion. Glad to be getting back on track, but probably won't include it on habitcal. I have a friend on another forum who tracks his guitar practice/lessons along with his exercise routine, and he's about 95% Green. He kind of prompted me to start with the guitar practice since retiring.

3/12-Mon-relatively calm S weekend-ate fairly light lunches on both days, heavy dinner(bbq shrimp wrapped in bacon, baked potato, corn) on Sat. and large pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw and chips on Sunday. one pastry with coffee both days. Looking forward to vanilla noS during the week to rebuild my habits. Success today. loaded up my dinner plate pretty good, but no seconds.

3/13-Tues= Success
1st official day of PT. Got a shock, the large corp. who owns our main 2 hosps. and several Rehab locs. laid off half of the PT's and PTA's at our facility. These ladies were always very busy with clients and two of the senior, best ones were left go along with several others. Kind of in shock. So I had a student PTA on his 3rd rotation working with me. Another pt nearby to give him direction as needed. It went okay, although the first few times getting your arm and shoulder stretched is somewhat challenging. It went well all in all and I surprised myself with what I could do. Came home to ice it for about 20 minutes, since I'm only five minutes away. Only one mod today, which was a small box of raisins with my late morning coffee. My include a banana sometime after dinner. I'm kind of pleased with how well this simple fruit mod has kept me away from snacks for the last five days.(chips, cookies, pretzels, etc.)

3/14-Wed = Success-Dinner was 1 smoked pork chop, mashed potatoes w/gravy, cole slaw, ice tea and coffee after dinner.
The habit with my fruit mod has helped me maintain sticking with NoS better than previously, but it's still early on. Tomorrow is PT day, waiting to see if I have a student helping me again. But they have to learn like everyone else. I did my at home pt twice today and sitting here typing with my 2nd ice pack on my shoulder. Only mod so far today has been raisins(1 oz), but I may have a banana around mid-evening.(edit) didn't have the banana but a small glass of milk at bedtime.

3/15-Thur=Success
PT day, Went well.
mods for day, 1 oz. raisins, 1 banana

3/16-Fri = Success
At home PT, may try to incorporate some lower body exer's next week. Will review with my PT. The One exercise per day thing that was logged on here kind of appeals to me now.
Mods 1oz. raisins, 1 small apple.

3/17-Sat
did my PT exer's in the evening.

3/18-Sun
Walked 2M in p.m.-did my at home PT for shoulder.

Congrats on getting going on PT, but whew, those layoffs sound brutal. I see a psychiatrist sometimes with my health care plan. I asked on Monday for an appointment a couple of months down the line. He was not available until JULY! Then I got a call today that even that appointment had to be cancelled. Now the soonest one is in August. It's a good thing I'm not in worse shape. He has told me that if I felt a greater need, to email him directly and he would see what he could do. But I have to admit I've gotten mostly good service from the system.

Regarding my No S T-shirt, I'm trying to move away from black/white/red, so Reinhard is off the hook sending me one. Wink

Looks like you're doing great. The mod sounds helpful, and more freggies is always a good thing.

Unfortunate about the layoffs. We are pretty close to each other geographically as I recall? My husband is in a sort of niche branch of healthcare and it's scary when these big conglomerates come in and slash careers and professional relationships. I am old enough to remember a similar situation in Philly that ended with the vast hospital eating entity going belly up. Healthcare in this country is like a Dickens novel.

Thanks Larkspur, my clothes are getting a bit looser, but the weight seems to be locked down. I do need to eat more veggies, and I try to eat a tossed salad daily.
Back in my mid-30's, I was a strict vegetarian for almost 2 years. Then at some picnic I had one hamburger and it was Wham, like a hit of Keith Richards' best black-tar heroin. Well you can guess the rest.

Mar 19-Mon-Success
At home PT was only planned exercise. Banana was only mod this afternoon.
Dinner was tossed salad, fresh sausage w/kaiser roll, corn on cob.

Mar 20-Tues-1st Day of Spring, and we're having a white-out. haha.
PT day went well, they're always adding to routine, an almost non-stop 45 minutes. Success Glass of wine w/dinner

3/21-Wed 2nd day of snowstorm, shoveled a.m./p.m. hasn't stopped = Fail
Pistachios and choc. chip cookies. Two glasses of wine before and with dinner, roast beef, green beans, salad, stewed potatoes, small jello dish dessert with coffee. Shoveled snow twice, my daughter shoveled 3 times, and I had another 2 inches to finish the next morning. I believe we were in the 10-12 inch zone. March snowstorms tend to be on the heavy side, meaning the weight of wetter snow on the shovel. Eastern US folks already know this.

3/22-Thurs= Success - Mods were box of raisins and banana
Shoveled first thing in morning, still have the deck to redo later with about 3-4 inches on it again. So my exercise has ramped up unexpectedly. Skipping my PT today with a sore throat, as they don't want people to show up if cold/flu symptoms.

3/23-Fri = Success Mods were raisins and banana. Two glasses of wine with dinner. Exercise, hauled large plastic clubhouse to curb for pickup(sections). Helped gs. build snow fort and ensuing snowball fight with same. Walked up and down street while gs rode his bike in full snow suit and boots. At home PT routine for shoulder. I have to work on better food selection for my lunch, as I get very hungry until dinner time. It's often kind of light.

3/24-Sat
a.m. Walked 2M-lots of blinding snow still on the ground, most sidewalks clear.
At home PT.
3/25-Sun
Walked 2M. PT at home

3/26-Mon = Success. Mods today, 1 oz. raisins, and one banana.
At Home PT. Happy that I was able to play my first barre chords on guitar after starting 11 months ago. It just clicked for some reason today.
Two glasses of wine(small) with my dinner.

3/27-Tues = Fail. came home after therapy to cup of coffee and 2 apple strudels. Two cookies with milk at bedtime, ok I went off plan today. New day tomorrow.
PT a.m.-my PT says my progress is amazing for only a little over 2 mos. after surgery.

3/28-Wed = Success
plumbing emergency at home cancelled out planned walk and PT.

3/29-Thur= Failri
Good couple of weeks followed with a couple of fails this week.

3/30-Fri-Fail-duh, thought it was Saturday, and ate pastry mid morning, pretzels in afternoon.

I've seen some chunky vegetarians. The ones who are slim often were before they changed, too.

Anyway, you're on your way. If there needs to be adjustments to macros down the line, well, you'll see.

4/2-Mon. = Success Woke up to a snow squall. Could barely see to end of our yard. Melting already. Walk later. did 3 miles. Snowstorms in April(well not really a storm). at home PT.
Dinner 1 smoked pork chop, mashed potatoes with gravy & cup of chowder, coffee afterward, no beer tonight. Walked on our dead end street while grand kids rode bikes for 30 minutes.

4/3-Tues = Success. Mods today was one banana, mid morning with coffee. Regular PT, gets tougher every time, which is expected. Rained all day, so no walks. Sunny forecast tomorrow, then either more snow or hopefully rain later in week. Dinner was leftover beef, and some noodle casserole with vegs mixed in. One IPA earlier and coffee after dinner.

I mostly skip them with rain. Did take a long one after that last snow squall and footing was very slippy at places. Been using tree trimming and yard work as my extra activ's plus phy therapy at home, that takes a half hour.

PT day
4/11-Wed=Fail
Two red days in a row, one minor and one not so minor.

Finally a sunny, warmer day, after we had a few snow flurries again yesterday.
4/12-Thur = Fail, sheesh, three reds in a row.
4/13-Fri
PT kind of wrecked my shoulder yday by adding weights for first time. Very sore this morning. Hopefully naproxen sodium helps.
4/16-Mon = Success Mods today was one banana.
Raining yet again, no walks. PT at home. Ham and baked potatoes, tossed salad-ranch dressing, green beans.
4/17-Tues = Success
PT day-more snow flurries, but light. Ravioli and meatballs for dinner. mods today, banana and small box or raisins-1 oz.
4/18, 4/19 =Success
4/20-Fri = FailYard work for my exer. activ's. Dinner fresh sausage, noodles, corn on cob, salad.

5/11/18-Friday
Phy Therapy this morning. Finished next week. I've been sticking to NoS about 50% most days. Weight is unchanged. My physical activities at the moment consist of clearing sod from a large area of my yard and leveling for a new pool for my grand kids. Seriously hard work using a hoe for several hours. Still debating if I'm building a large frame to help with leveling and sand containment.
5/12/18-Sat
Cleared sod for about 4-5 hours today, luckily mostly cloudy, some sun. Rain over night softened sod making a "little" easier to remove. Hauled approx. 600 lbs. of the stuff to a spot behind my garden shed. When it's totally dried out, should give a couple hundred pounds of good top soil for future use. Hands a little sore from hoeing, but it's amazing how our bodies acclimate to hard work in a few days.
5/13-Sun, Mother's Day, no sod clearing but it rained most of the day anyway. back to it tomorrow.

5/18-Friday
finished my (paid) physical therapy. Of course it will continue at home. So I plan on re-implementing my workouts at a more sedate pace initially. No excuses for hitting NoS at a dismal 50% success rate either.

5/28-Mon-Memorial Day
Walked 3 Miles

5/29-Tues = Success
More leveling soil plot in hot sun-very humid. Yard work. Hung chinning bar back up in my garage gym. Place is still cluttered with daughter's belongings since her move. While I haven't been on a scale lately, I can tell my normal summer activities have caused my clothes to get bigger.

5/30-Wed-Two dr. visits for wife today(one specialist), so not sure what my activ's will consist of later. Had her in urgent care Friday night with chest pains, short of breath and tingly fingers. EKG was good. You don't realize how a loved one's health issues affects our plans and resolve for everyday systems "stuff."

June has to look better.

It sounds like you stay very consistent with vigorous functional exercise. I hope your body continues to heal. Nice that your clothes feel looser.

Sorry to hear about your wife’s scare and glad to hear that it wasn’t worse.

Even 50% compliance with No S puts you way had of the average American pack. I’m rooting for a No S June that you’ll be more pleased with.

Thanks oolala. Wife has been better since her scare. My summer looks to be full of "functional" exercise. I still have the debris from a garden shed to haul and throw into a large dumpster. Build a small deck for pool with ladder platform, and a few other small projects. The good thing in my case about summer projects is I drink gallons of water and much less likely to snack. We did get some good news from our oldest grandson in Oregon. He won two different scholarships for college for 6K and 10K. His other adopted grandmother has said she'll match up to 5K for any scholarships. We're very proud of him, and he's a great kid.

5/31-Thurs-
Bike ride with g.s. -More pool leveling work before Tropical storm makes it way here by the weekend, very humid today.

Glad your wife’s EKG was good. Good for her, getting checked. I hope she feels better. It is easier in summer to stay active, isn’t it?

First of all thanks Larkspur. Today makes me appreciate family and good health even more. I was sitting in our living room watching the futures market early on CNBC with the inside front door open awaiting my gd's arrival before school. I heard a crack and looked out to see my 60-something neighbor tumble over. He's struggled with some movement issues from a stroke many years ago. I ran over to where he was groaning on the lawn to find he'd shot himself. While I didn't think it would help, gave him cpr and kept him breathing until the EMT's arrived, which took an eternity. I feel guilty that I may have missed his change recently and didn't reach out for help. in his last 12 years, he lost a wife to cancer, his step daughter to kidney disease and struggled with alcohol. I will be asking myself a lot why I wasn't more attuned to a neighbor. This really sucks.

You have had a nasty shock, but still did the best you could for your neighbour when he needed it.

He did it outside? That's mind boggling. Were the EMT"s able to do anything?

I think most of us don't do much with neighbors. It's become an American phenomenon. It could have happened to any of us. Be kind to yourself while you ponder this.

My parents had friends when I was a baby in Texas (I heard the stories later) and good friends on the same block in Florida, but after we moved to California, they had no one they socialized with regularly besides family and at church events for the rest of their lives.

Neighbors and family were all asking why he did it outside. I think we got our answer. I'm glad now to have given him cpr as he restarted breathing until the emt's took over. He was on life support until 1:00 p.m. which was roughly 6+ hours later, and he was able to donate his organs. He wanted to be found quickly, although had it been a half hour later, kids walk by our houses to a bus stop and my granddaughter might have witnessed this. At the time, I seriously considered not doing the cpr to just "let him go" as I knew from his wound his recovery was nil. Sorry if this is TMI.

6/2/18-Sat
Walked 2 miles, very hot and muggy. Did it more just to clear mind than for exercise.
Finished connecting all plumbing on new pool. Re-position all legs on pool to make them plumb. Horrific storm last night washed away some of ground beneath a couple legs, so redid that after placing a brick under the legs. Covered it temporarily with plastic until I can get some round river stones. Didn't eat a lot today, more interested in liquids.

Sorry you had to go through that experience.

You are sure being industrious. Will my admiration make me go out and do some yard work tomorrow? Prolly not. Shocked

What a harrowing experience for you! Your poor neighbor. Are you doing ok? That’s a very rough thing to witness.

I'm okay. They had his memorial service today, and his dad, and brother in law both told me they were glad I found him and kept him alive a while longer. So others could use his organs. I was a bit too choked up to speak at his service, but my wife surprised us and spoke. Life is hard, but it's still too short.

6/11/18-Mon- Trying to get my NoS back on track. Fortunately my activities, which are mostly phy. work related have helped me from gaining.

a.m. Walked 3M saw a doe and took some pics at a wooded area next to little park where I walk. Have seen up to six there when I walked at dusk in the fall.
Got 3 walks in this past week of 2 Mile length. Tomorrow I'm having 1300# of river stone delivered to landscape around new pool. My wife's grandfather's antique wheelbarrow will put back into service. I'm guessing this thing is 100+ years old, and has a giant wrought-iron wheel.

As they say, they don't make them like that anymore, though what do I know about tools and equipment.

Good luck with those 1300 lbs. If you are maintaining, I'd bet there's still a chance you are losing some fat and building some muscle. But if not, the exercise is still doing you a lot of longevity good.

Did some weeding in front flower beds for my activity today. This is usually my wife's job, but her back has been bothering her, so I did it with our new action hoe. I can't say enough good things about this thing. And I've pretty much avoided gardening duties except for helping with planting, and doing the grass cutting/trimming. Anyway, if you hate to weed a garden or flower bed, please check out this type of hoe. Some call it a stirrup hoe, or double edged hoe. They sell them at Walmart or decent garden/hardware stores. And I'm the last guy to get excited over some gardening device, haha. An online and real friend from Portland told me he got one for his 75 y.o. mother, who was having trouble with weeding, and she loved the thing.

Does the hoe work even if the ground is pretty dry and possibly hardened?

Not as well in getting the deeper roots out, but it will cut them off just below the surface. To be honest, we've had a fair amount of rain this past month. Could you possibly water with the hose the night before, or even a few hours prior? I know in late July or August we're usually in mid-drout conditions, and our clay type soil is hard as a brick. If you have less clay than us, more sandy, it should still get roots out even if dry. It cost me $15.88+tax so it wasn't a huge investment.

I was going to ask if watering first would help. Most of the yard (besides trees) is actually pretty dead right now (that's good for me), but the day will likely come.

6/20/18-Wed = Success
Day's activ's- more weeding and play/swim in pool with grandkids. GD leaves for the beach for 15 days to visit other grandparents, so we had to get one last swim in prior. Like last summer, I have some cracked skin betw. toes(athlete's foot) and it's limited my walking. This is something I've never had until I retired? May have to visit a podiatrist, been putting it off.
"This too shall pass."
6/21-Thurs = Success
6/22-Fri -
More yard work-cool and cloudy
6/25 Mon = Fail
6/26 Tues = Success
6/27 Wed = Success (although stomach is growling at bed time)-Will have a small glass of milk. today's phy. activ's. Hauled 10 x 50# bags of river rocks and placed around new above ground pool. Had to handle each bag 5 times(p/u store shelf onto cart, load into car, unload& transport to pool in back yard, unload hand truck, p/u and dump around pool). This brings total up to 1800#, and hopefully it's DONE.
6/28-Thur = Success
6/28-Fri = Success
Was able to do full-weight pullups again since my surgery. Well I did three singles, and eight partial, half-pullups. Also did some inclined pushups, shoulder not yet ready for full weight. So that was encouraging.

7/5/18-Thur
Guess it's time to start another month's log(five days late)
Those of us living in the midwest, southern and eastern part of US have been in a record breaking heat wave. Our new pool is almost like bath water. Luckily it rained a little last night, first time in about a month.
a.m.-2 Mile walk.
eating has been fairly light, mostly green days.

I've read only a bit about the heat wave. It's just hitting in my neck of the woods.. It sure can affect the desire to move. I'm impressed with your walk.

Walk was early morning and breathing was difficult. Mid-afternoon would be no-go.
7/6/18-Friday = Fail
Did a couple sets of full weight half pullups x 5, and inclined pushups x 8. Able to do a complete full wt. pullup again, but one reg. pushup is my limit at moment. Repaired shoulder was been sore last few days, either from pushups or pool cleaning.
7/9-Monday = Fail
Did some light carpentry and a steady 15 min. hard bike ride. Pulled gk's around pool in evening.
7/10-Tuesday = Success
Banana was my only mid morning mod. Nothing notable under phy activ's.
7/11-Wed = Success
Did several sets of inclined pushups & half pullups(full wt.), Yard work. Steaks on grill for dinner, baked beans and tossed salad; reached two beer limit for first time in about 6 months, coffee after dinner sitting on deck swing with wifey, watching gk's swim.
7/12-Thur = Fail(way over the top at dinner) Made the mistake eating at Ol' Country Buffet for dinner. We rarely eat at these places. One rather large salad with thousand island dressing. Dinner plate with one bbqd chicken drumstick, Meat loaf, cornbread filling(gravy) brocoli and corn. Raspberry ice tea, coffee and small piece of choc cake. On a positive note, my pushups and pullups are improving, shoulder soreness has mostly settled down.
7/13-Fri = Success
Haven;t been going on my long walks, still have a problem with athlete's foot.
Did two sets of incline pushups x 8, 1 set of 5 half-pullups and did 4 singles full pullups.
7/14-Sat
Did some light carpentry building another beach umbrella stand for our deck. I've built two in recent years out of scrap, trying to make one that doesn;t look like my 7th grade shop class project.
Incline pushups x 10, and did 5 full wt. pullups(singles), very happy with my progress after getting shoulder fixed.
7/16 Monday = Fail
7/17 Tuesday = Success
7/18 Wednesday = Success Fighting off a summer cold, couldn't breathe well the last two days. Last night was difficult to breathe lying down, so I slept sitting up in recliner. Had Chinese for dinner, one egg roll, Beef with scallions, scoop of rice and hot tea. Daughter who usually skips lunch at work, helped to eat my beef. She's tall and THIN, eats like a lumberjack when she does eat.
7/19-Friday = S-day for mega cold-blah.
7/23-Monday = Success, but cold persists.
Some local engr. consultants enticed me to do some contract work for them. Already have 3 projects lined up, hoping I don't regret it. Anyway, spent most of day in humid plastics factory today with my cold was not a great experience.[/b]
7/24-Tuesday = Success
Ate lightly today, no appetite with this cough-Dr. apt tomorrow a.m.
7/25-Wed=Success
Stepped on Dr.'s scale fully clothed : 213 lbs, somewhat down during cold.
BP was good, BMI within normal parameters(so my rept. said). Rec'd the sad news today, we've lost another younger cousin to cancer. She was a sweet person and only 59.
7/30-Monday-Only mod so far today, a banana mid afternoon.=Fail
Light carpentry. I'm trying my best to be like the dog whisperer on tv. We've inherited my daughter's flat coat retriever/Newfoundland mix and he's a handful at times. I've missed not having a dog since our last Golden passed on a couple years ago, so I'm working with this hard-head to make him more docile. None of this has anything to do with NoS, except an active dog makes us more active. He was a rescue dog by daughter a few years back, and you never know what happened to them before we get them.
7/31-Tues= Success
Not a great month, looking at my Red days. Luckily my summer activities have kept weight steady to even down a few pounds.
Summer evening cookout for dinner. GK's swam in pool after dinner-not immediately afterwards, lol. I'm working on new project next two days in New Oxford, Pa. So I'm retired and worked parts of 4 days each of the last two weeks, but a couple days from home. I hate to admit this, but my brain needed to do this.

8/13, 14, 15-Heavy phys. labor throwing an old garden shed and misc. junk into a large dumpster. Very hot and humid last two days, drinking more than eating. Lots of wheel barrow work.

8/17-Fri
Got a mild shock this morning, when I stepped on a scale and it showed 210 lbs. which was close to my weight graduating from high school. Anyone looking at my Success/Fail rate in my posts can see I'm generally above 50% Success, but shoot for 80% more or less(that's 4 out of 5 days), so credit to NoS working in my case, plus a lot of physical summer labor around the house. I have been working PT back in engineering which means I'm often back on my feet in hot plants(factories) for several hours some days. So it's a combination driving the weight down. To be honest, as my thirst goes up in summers, my appetite is somewhat curtailed. I laugh at my original goal weight being 210, but I'll stick with 205, which may or may not be sustainable over an entire year.

Congratulations on your progress. It is neat to see that 50% compliance still brings your body into a nice range. Good luck with the GW of 205. I would not be at all surprised to see you get there.

Love how productive you are. I can tell it makes you happy to get things done. Me too.

Oh, also -- I have been learning to do pull-ups/chin-ups this summer! I admire you doing those -- they are so hard!! And you are a big guy; my husband says it's the little guys that can do so many pull-ups. Laughing

Thank you automatedeating. Well it's generally Over 50%, and in summers I've traditionally dropped around 5 lbs. even when I was as high as 260. Good for you doing pull-ups and chins. They're tough for most women, and lots of men as well. Now if could just get my push-ups back on track.

8/20 & 8/21-Mon/Tues=Success
Last two days of throwing basement junk into our dumpster. It's about 90-95% full, and that's 30 cubic yards! Best week of functional exercise I've had since semi-retired. It gets picked up tomorrow. How can anyone gather that much junk during their lives? Well a goodly portion was the remains of a 10' x 12' wooden shed. Also hand mowed the front yard before the next round of rain, which has been going on now for over a month. We've had the rainiest July on record, something like 10+ inches of rain here in Pa.
Last night's dinner was ravioli from our favorite Italian restaurant, salad, plus garlic bread. Tonight it's ham slice(s) garden salad, and (not sure what vegatable or carb dish).

8/26-Sun
Since both gk's are back in school, and water temps are starting to drop, I may close the pool today. GD turned 12 yesterday and wanted to go to Chili's for her birthday luncheon, with ice cream cake back here afterwards. Only ate a small piece, but it was very sweet and very good. I've reconnected with my favorite cousin recently, whom I grew up with, after a fifty year absence. Did see him at my Dad's funeral back in '99, but not since. Looking forward to my modifieid NoS this week after an SS'y weekend.

10/3/18-Complete physical today. Nurse said I lost 2 lbs. since my visit during my summer cold and grew 1.5 inches....LOL. Not really, someone messed up my height calc. at last physical. With my clothes on, sans shoes my wt. was 211.4 lbs. So my reported weight in sig line at 210 was based on first thing in morning before breakfast, juice and coffee. So I'm at a mild sticking point.

10/1-Mon = Success Walked 2M
10/2-Tues = Success
10/3-Wed-Yearly physical-Bloodwork still pending. Walked 2M in p.m. Success
10/4-Thur-Walked 3M in a.m. Success did a few pushups and pullups. Experimented with Sun Salutations, Want to restart them or The Five Tibetans in the morning.
10/5-Fri=Success Walked 2M in a.m.
10/6-Sat(50th Class Reunion was a big success) Saw many old friends, had a great live band with great tunes from the 60's, 70's. Quite a few using walkers, canes, a couple in wheel chairs. Our committee who ran the event did such a super job that for people who participated in the fund raisers over the last 5 years, got a cash envelope back when we signed in. Managed to not overeat.
10/8-Mon-=Fail. Walked 3M in a.m.
10/9-Tues= Success walked 2M
10/10-10/11Wed&Thur= Success Pullups and pushups in p.m.
