NoSer Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

NoSer Check In

Post by noSer » Fri Jun 21, 2019 7:05 am

Just wanting to keep track of my progress. Started this a decade ago, gave up. For some reason it has been easier this time. Maybe the permission to buy prepared what I need so I don't have to make 2 meals. Been eating a prepared salad most days for lunch. So that's what hubby thinks this diet is :) But it works for me, so everybody is happy. Sadly, just now down to what my starting weight was last time I did this diet. Now I need to start thinking about exercising. I am beginning to be able to see the results on my body, so that is motivating. And I still think of my weight loss in terms of bowling balls. I'm going to pick up my husbands bowling ball tomorrow to remind me how much I've lost.

Was stuck at 226 for awhile, not sure why, but some travel and other things in there. Scale said 223 this morning, so that's movement! Ate 3 cookies yesterday, but it was an S day, so all is good. Also, have just edged out of the extremely obese category on BMI to obese. So now marching towards just overweight.

Well, up a couple of pounds this week for some reason. I know I need to drink more water. And I did have ice cream a couple of times over the weekend, but they were S days. Will keep trying.

Down to 214. Should post more often, as it is motivating to see that I have lost weight this month. Don't know why, but I weigh every day, so sometimes it seems like the scale isn't moving. But I see I'm down 6 lbs. :D

Crazy busy fall, but I have been able to keep the diet for the most part. Am continuing slow loss, so am happy about that!
