Which movements do you do? How many reps? In what order? When? Do you mix in other non-shovelglove moves? Post here or browse to get ideas.

Phineas' Beginner Routine

Post by Phineas » Fri Oct 24, 2008 5:42 pm

As stated in another thread in the Shovelglove general discussion, I've just reached a 14 min / day program after a few weeks of gradual build up. I started at 7 minutes, and added an additional minute every other day (with the exception of a few sick days) until I reached 14. Until this week I was just kind of doing as many of the movements as I could think of in no particular order until time ran out. It became very clear that several of them were quite similar to each other... ie Fireman vs. Drive Fence Posts, and Churn Butter vs. Tuck Bales. So using this as a guide I created 2 routines that I alternate to keep it somewhat fresh and not feeling like I'm repeating as many motions.

This is what I am presently doing for a routine:

Day 1:

Shovel x21/side
Churn Butter x14/side
Flip Lever x7/side
Chop Wood x14/side
Hoist Sack x14/side
Fireman x14/side

Day 2:

Shovel x21/side
Tuck Bales x14/side
Flip Lever x7/side
Stoke Oven x14/side
Hoist Sack x14/side
Drive Fence Posts x14/side

So far 14 minutes allows me to get through these routines twice. As I improve and get faster, this will likely be modified.
