* * * February challenge and wannabe club * * *

Post by ~reneew » Fri Jan 29, 2010 1:27 am

* * * I'm issuing a challenge for you to have the best month that you can... or if you wannabe in the 21 day club, go 21 days straight with no reds on your habitcal * * *

- This is for those enthusiastic people and for those that need encouragement and accountability. After all, the world can see this. We will keep tabs on eachother.
- your personal "best" is defined however you wish.
- *Remember* to only post once at the top and edit that first post all month.
- Please re-read that last one, some people don't get it.
- after February 3rd we will continue posting at the bottom for encouragement and fun.
- The "wannabe" part is for those enthusiastic people that want to go 21 days straight to get into the 21 (day) club, whether it's your first time or you're a repeater.
- good luck and have fun with it!

I'm in!

I had 3 reds  in January, and I went a bit wild every darn weekend :? so I definitely have room to improve. I really wanna be a repeater to the 21 day club just to get my good habits going again, so that's my goal for now. If I can't, I'll just do my best.

I really get alot out of the challenges, thanks guys!!!!

I'm in!

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I've been No-Sing since last Monday, Jan. 18 and have had all green N days (plus two yellow S days) on my Habitcal. My immediate goal is to make the 21 club, which I hope to do on Feb. 7. My goal for February is to continue to follow the plan with hopefully no red days.

I really love filling in the color on the Habitcal. It helps keep me motivated. I think checking in here will be extra reinforcement and accountability. :D

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging examples!

I'm going to back out for now. I have too much going on, and I don't have time to keep up with a check in right now. My eating isn't going too badly, though.

I'm in.

Goals:
Maintain No-S (no reds!)
Maintain exercise (at least at current minimal level, adapted for PT... maintaining the habit for later.)
Solidify "reasonable bedtime" habit from last month
New: Meditate 5 days a week. Journaling counts as meditation. Five minutes of meditation also counts, no matter how "badly done." :)

As you can tell, I believe in setting goals so low that my internal reaction is "well, of course I can do THAT." Usually, that works out to just-enough-challenge once I try to maintain over time. There's plenty of time to raise the bar once the baseline habit is in place.

I'm in. I've technically been doing No-S since the second week in January but I haven't been marking it down. I'm hoping that keeping a record will help me keep on track, though I only went off it once or twice.
1st - Success!
2nd - Success!
3rd - Success! was really tempted to eat some chocolate but had hot cocoa made with soy milk instead.
4th - Success!
5th - Technically Fail I didn't eat very much lunch due to a messed up schedule, but I really didn't want to go into my Latin exam with a grumbly tummy so I had a snack, but I could've considered it part of my lunch. I'm just being strict with myself.
6th - S-Day
7th - S-Day - Didn't go crazy this weekend, plus I did a lot of walking. Yay for missing the last bus home >.<
8th - Success!
9th - Success!
10th - Success!

Hi I'm in too!

Only problem is we are going away on 17 Feb for three weeks on a road trip to South Island, so I may not be able to post regularly, or indeed be good! But I'll do my best.

February
1 - Success
2 - Success Weekly weigh in this morning, the SAME as last week, had hoped for a little loss as I have been so good. Oh well, onwards and upwards - I mean downwards!
3 - Success
4 - Success
5 - Success
6 - S Day Had a moderate S Day, went to a BBQ, great.
7 - S Day Had more nibbles while cooking, plus peanuts with a drink and home-grown strawberries and icecream after supper, yum!
8 - Success Feeling fat and bloated and relieved to be back on an N day.
9 - Success
Very disappointed I have gained .3kg / 1 lb since last week.
10 - Success
11 - Failure Can't believe I did it, had seconds at lunch, an extra slice of bread, marge and half pnb and half honey. Even while I was doing it I knew it was wrong, but I just wanted it so badly! However, counting from when I started on 21 January I have had a perfect 21 days. Anyway, I have to start again now.
12 - Success
13 - S Day Entertained at home, lovely BBQ carefully organised for an S Day!
14 - S Day
15 - Success
Off on our holidays tomorrow, so probably won't be able to post, but will do my best! Wish me luck!

I'll give it a go...again, and this time *will* work out better! I have some goals in mind but decided this year to get away from making resolutions. For now, I'll start by improving my No S compliance, doing 10 - 14 minutes of exercise and enforcing Electric Cinderella.

Feb 1 day 3 success! I'm only tracking No S since it's my only official effort right now.
Feb 2 day 4 success! but boy, was I tempted...
Feb 3 fail I had a really stressful day and since I haven't learned how to properly deal...well, I blew it. :-(
Feb 4 fail today was even worse that yesterday...
Feb 5 fail stupid move but since I had already blown most of the week and there was only one day till the weekend...ugh.
Feb 6 S day
Feb 7 S day kids are out of school tomorrow but I'll still call it an N day.

This was really fun last month! I'm ready to try again
February
1 :D Totally stressed out today! Only habit kept me going.
2 :D
3 :D Monthly weigh in Lbs change/time on NoS: -5/01mo Yipee!! 8)
4 :D Easily managed 2 meals eaten out!
5 :D
6 S Day :D This wasn't a great S-day but you can't fail on S days and I did better on Sunday.
7 S Day :D S day treat: wild blueberry tart
8 :D
9 :D
10 :D Snow day but kept it to three slightly larger than usual meals
11 :D
12 :D Stayed away from snacks at the dissertation defense party!
13 S Day :D Nice dinner out with finace
14 S Day :D Baked two loaves of sourdough and one whole grain flaxseed bread
15 :D /dinner=S-event :D
16 :D
17 :D I have been fighting the urge to weigh myself, my monthly weigh-in isn't for 2 more weeks! I've got to think of something good to distract my self with. Weekend should help.
18  I went out to eat with my fiance and he ordered french fries which came before the meal. I was starving and ended up eating the fries even though I knew I shouldn't and I ate way more than I would have put on one plate. The tummy ache I had all last night was quite enough punishment already so I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I just need to be more careful when I go to restuaurants hungry! Goal for S-days: Keep it reasonable!
19 :D
20 S Day :D S-day treat: Dogoba dark chocolate, blueberries and lavendar bar
21 S Day :D S-day treat: Apple strudel
22 :D I can't believe February is almost over!
23 :D
24 :D I even made it through a party with only 1 plate! Definately a confidence builder.
25 :D
26 Let it snow, let it snow!

Count me in! January was my very first month, and I successfully made it into the 21 club!

This month, I'd like to stay with my good progress, and have a month with only greens and yellows. Today's my Birthday, so there will be one additional S day sometime early this month ... I'm still sick so I'm pretty sure it won't be today.

February 1st: green
2nd: green
3rd: red red red darned stupid yogurt pretzels and darned stupid me. I wasn't paying attention and had stuffed them in my mouth before I realized what I was doing. The rest are going in the garbage and to heck with wasting food.
4th: green
5th:
Saturday 6th: S Day
Sunday 7th: S Day

16 Still with mother worst of it is, she's a retired nutritionist - and I couldn't tell her what I was doing because I knew she'd laugh....so I just called them S days...
17 Failed Could have called it an S day because of travelling home, but called it N then stuffed up with mini chocolate rolls and belgium chocolates Christmas present we've just collected from Mother's.

I suppose it depends on if you are doing any mods. For vanilla no S if you ate them and they weren't on the plate you called breakfast, lunch or dinner then I'd say yes. Something like this happened to me the second day I was No Sing. I drank half of a lemonade snapple without thinking about it and then later realized it was a sweet  . I just noted it down on my HabitCal as a failure and didn't stress about it because it was minor. I think it was a good experience though because I've stayed away from sugary drinks since then!

Is there any chance we can get this topic, and the 21 day wanna be club topic stickied so they stick at the top? The wanna be club wouldn't need to be changed at all, and the monthly challenge would only need to be swapped out once a month ... it shouldn't be too terribly hard?

That's up to Reinhard. I don't mind, but he'd need to switch it every month for it to be effective in checking out eachother's easily.

Feel free to bump it up any time!

I found it somewhere else here on the Everyday systems website. I guess it's actually called "the Cinderella Electric Curfew"...

I have a real problem with staying up way to late, usually 2 or 3a.m. and I have kids to get up with in the morning and get off to school. In the past I've tried to fool myself that I'm a night owl - I'm not. I just watch too much TV, and to be honest, I love it when the house is soooo quiet. Anyway, I'm doing really well with it - in bed around 10 or so and lights off by 11. It's quickly becoming a habit and I feels great!

Most of us are doing great. Keep going!!! I saw a bunch of us wrote down "lent starts" on the 17th. I think we should all encourage eachother especially during lent. I love this group!

I like this idea of encouraging those who are observing Lent. In my tradition (Episcopalian), Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are fast days (one full meal late in the day only). We are also supposed to abstain from meat on Wednesdays and Fridays during Lent. I intend to observe these practices.

My flu at the beginning of the month derailed me from my meditation intention. (Doing okay on No-S basics... except for a few over-the-top S days.)

I'm going to start again at Lent. I know meditation isn't "giving up something for Lent" (which is how most traditions that I know of practice Lent), but it seems like a move toward balance. And that's how I see Lent. It's usually translated as giving up things that have become too prominent in your life, but adding needed things seems equally appropriate to me.

So... here we go again!

KCCC, that makes sense to me. In our church's tradition, the three practices of Lent are fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. They are connected in that fasting from something (food, alcohol, TV, internet, or whatever) frees up either time that can then be spent in prayer and/or money that can be donated to those in need. It seems like your increased meditation time is very much a Lenten practice.

Good luck with it!

I posted this in another wanna-be thread, so sorry if you see it again. Today marks 7 weeks of No S-ing and I'm feeling good. 'Course I've stuck to other plans that had me thinking I could do it forever and I was never gonna go back to my old ways before. But it's been awhile, so I'm going to enjoy this.

So, do we want another challenge in March? Who's ready???
February was way too short.

I am completeing 8 weeks today. Are you saying we should start a March challenge after the weekend? If I keep this up, I will post on the 21-day thread next week, too.
