Heather1321's Daily Check-In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Heather1321's Daily Check-In

Day 1 (January 28, 2010): SUCCESS

I found NoSDiet on SparkPeople.com. I really, really, really can't stand documenting every calorie I eat during the day. This seems simple and commonsensical (?is that even a word?).

Welcome Heather! I can't stand to count things (calories, points, etc) either. You'll find a lot of us non-counters here.

Day 2 (January 29, 2010): SUCCESS

And it's a Friday, which means I have two "s" days coming up! I will not go crazy, eating my way through the pantry...

I'm writing this on a Saturday, after my long run (3.75 miles). This is also my weekly weigh-in and I lost 1/2 a pound this week! I'm excited because for the last two weeks I've been "stuck" at the same weight.

:D

Hi and welcome. I also visit sparkpeople because I like the articles and exercise videos but for me *nothing* beat No S!

Day 3 and 4 (January 30 & 31, 2010): I took "S" days since these are Saturday and Sunday.

I did fine on Saturday. I had 1 snack (100 calorie popcorn) and 1 sweet (Haagen Daaz frozen yogurt). On Sunday, my husband wanted chocolate chip cookies, so I baked them (and ate some...probably more than I should have).
