One year anniversary Wednesday, kept off 35 lbs

(New!) Read (or post) about people who have stuck with No-S for 10 or more months, lost 10 or more pounds, or 10 or more percent for their starting weight. Periodic updates strongly encouraged -- you can think of it as "Yearly Check In."

One year anniversary Wednesday, kept off 35 lbs

Post by megran » Mon Jun 24, 2013 8:08 pm

Hello all! I just wanted to toot my horn here ... started No S last year on June 26th after a friend recommended it to me. I was literally eating a graham cracker (after breakfast) while reading the message she sent me about this life-changing lifestyle, and I thought "Okay, that's it: I'm starting NOW" ..

I started out around 182 after having had my 3rd baby in 4 years. I was usually able to get back to 160 - 165 by doing Paleo/Low carb type diets, and while I wasn't thrilled to be that size, I was okay with it.

Doing No-S, I have lost 35 lbs or so and am now holding steady at 145. I'm 5'10" and turn 35 this year.

This way of eating has completely changed my life. I tell EVERYONE I know about it (told TWO people today and one of them bought the book today already!) ... Anyway ...

I just had to post and share.

I haven't taken a "full body" picture in awhile because, honestly, I NEVER think about my weight anymore. I weigh myself occasionally just to "check in", but no more do I obsess about the foods I eat, what the scale says, how my clothes fit. I JUST LIVE MY LIFE!

That's the best part about this diet -- the FREEDOM.

Guys ... it is POSSIBLE. I eat real food and desserts and sugar and half and half in my coffee. It's been absolutely amazing and I can't say enough great things about it.

I am not sure how I can upload pics here, but yeah ... it's been absolutely life changing and I'm so excited for my one year anniversary of living this way :D

Okay I think I'm figuring this out LOL

First: before I started (around 182)

Second: after about 3 weeks from starting (the weight MELTED off) (around 162):

Then a couple months after that (around 150):

Wow fantastic!! Great post. You look great, and I think you are a wonderful commercial for sane eating.

I love that this is not a diet and that it works. Thanks for posting!

Congratulations and thank you for the impressive photographic evidence! (Glad you figured out the upload!)

We're on #3 baby as well so I know what an added challenge those darling little creatures pose to sane eating.

I always finding it gratifying when people with impressive numbers and other visible results identify intangibles like "freedom" as the thing they value most about No-S.

I have to say it was the freedom I noticed almost immediately. I've lived overseas (a year in Sweden as an exchange student) and I could never understand how my Italian friends would eat pasta, or the Swedes would eat so many things with butter and cream ... and how were they so thin?

Starting this way of life made it all "click" for me. I'll never forget those first few days of eating sandwiches (on WHITE bread!) with REAL mayonnaise and how awesome it was to thoroughly ENJOY each and every bite with absolutely zero food guilt.

Freedom is the best way I can describe it. Freedom from food guilt, from diets, from the scale, from ALL OF IT.

You Go, Girl!!!

Post by Hippy Dippy » Wed Jul 03, 2013 2:54 pm

Congratulations! I love to read about the recent folks who are into this a year and doing so well. I'm a newbie. July 1st was my first official day. I'm almost done reading the book and found it to be even more helpful than the helpful website.

I gotta say, I've been a professional dieter for decades on and off and have done Atkins as my preferred diet of choice. This past January I had the epiphany that dieting was insane. And was lost...then I found out about intuitive eating, which is great, but doesn't give you any habits to learn. Luckily I happend on the No S* diet. Wow!! Blows my mind. Makes sense.

So thank you very much for posting...I have many pounds to lose...like 50, so this gives me hope and further incentive.

And you do look fabulous! So, once again: You, Go, Girl!!! : )

I cannot thank you enough for this post. I feel like you are my "after" picture. I am also 5'10", starting weight 182. And,as you know, at our height, we can get by with more weight. Your beginning picture does not look like an overweight person. But your current picture is fantastic! As you may guess from my screen name I hope to reach 150 and more importantly, stay there. To be 145 I wouldn't dream is possible. I followed WW last year and scraped down to 156 by 11/12. No surprise, here I am in July back up to 166. I think in my mind I couldn't believe I would ever get to the 150's and stay there. So guess what? I didn't. But here you are, living my dream....and not obsessing over food....and not weighing yourself every day!! I cannot express how much hope you have given me today. I will be reading and re-reading this post.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Peace and much love,

Late to the party but congrats! (I'm grateful to be a little under 145 at 5'6".) Best of all to hear that eating and weight are not a concern anymore.

I know you're pretty busy but it would be great some time to hear about your S-day experiences.

We need more sane eaters (and mothers) in our society. Given your brood, you might enjoy reading "French Kids Eat Everything."
