social media's insane popularity influence

Post by oolala53 » Tue Mar 27, 2018 6:18 am

I just have to whine. This doesn't really have to do with No S except that it's just so unfair. While I was on Facebook, a page got promoted on the right margin. It was for a woman who bills herself as Lazy Keto with Jess. She just started this last December and she has TWENTY-NINE THOUSAND people in her group. It's with a supplement!

The only supplements Reinhard hawks is a cup and a magnet, right? He should bill them as just as effective as the keto supplement.

skip this thread; a misreading of the facts

I tried to change the title of the thread to get people to stop looking at since I was just misled by a commercial Facebook group, but it didn't work. Sorry to waste people's time.

It's just that I thought it was really about that particular woman and her influence instead of some supplement company using it as a front.

This is a little off-topic, but it reminded me of a pet peeve I have about Facebook (in addition to people hawking supplements) - the promotion of useless if not downright dangerous diet and health advice. Another pet peeve of mine is using Facebook to bully people suffering from illness; for example, informing someone dealing with cancer that they never would have developed the disease if they had eaten an alkalinizing diet, avoided sugar, avoided artificial sweeteners, eaten paleo, eaten ketogenic, etc. etc. etc.

Totally agree - it’s infuriating.
