PP1993 3 months until summer

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

PP1993 3 months until summer

Post by PiPhi1993 » Wed Apr 08, 2020 5:24 pm

I think with the upheaval with the stay at home order, kids out of school, uncertainty at work things have just been feeling out of control. Definitely ready for a new start. Really want to commit to this through the next 3 months!
N day -

B - sourdough toast, eggs, fruit
L - salad with chicken and feta
S - halibut with orzo and broccolini

Welcome! I am one to say there are really no guarantees, not even with No S- though it saved my eating life-, but I wager that you will be pleased with the sense of satisfaction from sticking with meals. You might even enjoy your food more!

I agree that the schedule shifts (and more time at home) have made eating routines more difficult. I've had so many more sweet-fails.

Sat and Sun - first S days. Interestingly, I pretty much stayed with the same breakfast, lunch, and dinner pattern. Had a sweeter breakfast that normal on Sat and some dessert, but no snacks or seconds
Sat - S day
B - eggs, sausage and French toast
L - yogurt with granola and fruit
D - steak with shrimp, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts and bread. Ice cream with Carmel sauce for dessert.

Sun - S day (Easter)
B -2 slices of toast, one with avocado and other with peanut butter
L - veggie burrito
D - lamb with rice, salad, roll, carrots. Cheesecake for dessert

N Day.
B - bagel with vegan cream cheese
L - leftover veggie lasagne and berries with yogurt
D - leftover lamb, roll, and green salad with dates, feta and strawberries.

Notes from day 6 - it’s actually quite pleasant to feel an order to the day even during this chaotic time. I’m also realizing that I’m pleasantly hungry for my next meal, not ravenous, and that I’m feeling comfortably full. I definitely have some issues with binge eating so riding the wave of “don’t starve or stuff yourself” has often been a challenge. Knowing I have regularly schedule meals seems to help that. As does making deliberate, satisfying choices for meals.
