A Bunch of "Heavy Lifting" Moves - with VIDEO!

Here you'll find a discussion thread for each of the canonical and major non-canonical shovelglove moves. If you have questions or comments about any of these moves, just update the existing discussion for it. If you have a new move, add a new discussion (preferably with the name of your new move in the title). Ideally there will be just one discussion thread per move that everyone adds to, but it's no tragedy if a little bit of redundancy creeps in.

A Bunch of "Heavy Lifting" Moves - with VIDEO!

Post by phayze » Thu Oct 02, 2008 12:50 am

Hey Gang,

I finally got around to playing with the iSight on my new iMac, and put together a little video of the moves I've been using on my heavy lifting days.

Check it out Here.

Let me know if you have any suggestions, questions, comments, criticisms, or adoring praise. ;)

EDIT: Check out my channel, where you can find bite-sized clips of each move individually. I thought that might make viewing a little easier for some people, particularly those with slow internet connections.

Nice job on the video, Phayze. Most of the moves would be beyond my capabilities at this point, although I think "Pumping Water" might work for me now; it looks like fun.

Love Tux, your assistant! Very Reinhardesque touch to include him.

I also very much like the way you explain how your hands are positioned for each move, e.g. thumbs pointing toward each other, away, etc. Thanks!

Ok Phayze -- have tried the "pump water" move and find it just dynamite! I have a friend who has horses, and in the barn, the water sources are pumps, and this movement mimics that action wonderfully. Quite a good workout, and nicely in sync with the work scenarios of shugging. Once again, thanks!

Hey, thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I'm glad that my efforts are appreciated. :)

As far as including Tux . . . well, that was more his decision than mine. :p

Justen,

This is BRILLIANT!

I wish the official videos were this good.

OK if I like to it from the movements page?

Well, I wouldn't go as far as "brilliant", but thanks Reinhard - that means a lot coming from you.

I'd be honored by a link! :D

Phayze,

I just linked to the individual Samurai* moves, but I'm afraid the day job calls and I'm going to have to put off links to these moves till a bit later. They'll be all hooked up by tomorrow at latest.

Hey, don't rush on my account! I'm just glad to see that's been some positive response. Links from the main page are way more than I expected!
