Two shugging routines that really get the blood flowing

With all the discussion about burpees recently I decided add some to my shugging routine. What I came up with kicked my butt in a very good way…

Routine 1 (conditioning for routine two)

2 - Burpees
10 - Shovel Right
Burpee
10 - Shovel Left
Burpee
10 – Fireman Right
Burpee
10 – Fireman Left
Burpee
10 – Churn Butter Right
Burpee
10 – Churn Butter Left
Burpee
10 – Mace Swing Right
Burpee
10 – Mace Swing Left
Burpee
10 – Sword Pull Right
Burpee
10 – Sword Pull Left
Burpee
10 – Hoist Stack Right
Burpee
10 – Hoist Stack Left
Burpee
10 – Tuck Bales Right
Burpee
10 - Tuck Bales Left
Burpee
10 – Flip Lever Right
Burpee
10 – Flip lever Left
Burpee
10 – Diagonal Ab Crushers Right
Burpee
10 – Diagonal Ab Crushers Left
2- Burpee

Repeat until the timer runs out. On the second cycle do twice as many burpees etc....
I get through about two of these before the timer runs out.

For the days when I do not feel like putting the sledge down between moves I came up with this:

Routine 2 (Sledge Hammer Hell…but in a good way)

1 – Burpee

Right side

10 – Shovels
10 – Chop Wood
10 – Drive Fence Post
10 – Fireman
10 – Tuck Bales
10 – Mace Swings
10 – Sword Pulls
10 – Hoist Stacks

2 – Burpees

Left Side

10 – Shovels
10 – Chop Wood
10 – Drive Fence Post
10 – Fireman
10 – Tuck Bales
10 – Mace Swings
10 – Sword Pulls
10 – Hoist Stacks

3 – Burpees

Continue until the timer runs out. Every time you finish a cycle on a side add a burpee.

I also try to make the transition between movements as fluid as possible. No wasted movement. I try to be as fast, smooth and safe as possible, because there is nothing like a sledgehammer to the face (or tv, computer, cat, bedroom door, wife or window) to really wake you up.

If I am good and fast I can do 5 complete cycles (both sides) in the 14 minutes. This is equivalent to 50 reps of each move and 55 burpees. I also can not move afterwards, but boy do I feel good.

Just curious: Are you still doing this? Are you feeling any pain in your joints from the burpees after several months of this?
