Yes, being in the UK, stones mean more to me than lbs or kilos (although I regularly convert from one to the other!) _________________ I love Everyday Systems :3

After several attempts at this, I'm finding that No S is a fine way to maintain my weight but unsuccessful in helping me to lose weight. I do need to reduce my weight--I have an apple shape and I'm convinced it contributes to back pain. I am returning to counting points because I know it works for sure and I need some relief from these back problems. I might resume No S in the future in order to maintain a new, lower weight. Wishing myself luck. |

Hi minimizer- I hate to see you go! I'd recommend, if you're open to the idea, of counting points while maintaining the 3 meal per day structure... then you could slide seamlessly back into NoS for maintenance if you choose to.
I hope you can achieve your goals and will rejoin us again soon! _________________ -Sonya

Tuesday going well. Going to take a long walk this afternoon--the weather is beautiful. Didn't have milk at bedtime last night. Nothing at all after dinner. Cooking at home again tonight and will use some leftovers from last night as part of the meal. |

Wednesday is going well. Cooking dinner and waiting for it to come out of the oven while taking a break to check in.
Took a good walk today. The weather will not be good tomorrow but
hope to get a walk tomorrow anyway. We'll see.
Looking forward to the weekend when I will definitely find something
wonderful to indulge in as a sweet treat. |

Thank you, Queenie. I love it here. I mean to stick around
It's Friday and almost a complete week of Success. If I
complete today as a Success, then I've made it for the week,
for the win!
Afternoons are the most difficult for me, but not terribly
if I stay busy and remember that I can have milk or tea
if I really must have something.
I quite like eating nothing after dinner and having that
time of fasting between dinner and breakfast--I feel like
it's an especially healthy thing to do! |

Monday was a success.
Glad to be starting a new month and so looking forward to Spring.
February is my least favorite month, it seems to drag on.
Weighed this morning: 136#.
I believe I'll put away the scales and not weigh again until April 1.
9/1/15--137#, BMI 25.9
10/1/15--137#, BMI 25.9

January and February are my favorite months. And yes, I am in the northern hemisphere.
But I can find something to enjoy no matter what time of year. Although admittedly, right now I'm enjoying the clanging sound of my heating system, which means the weather is turning colder tonight.
Your week sounds like you're right on track. |

Yes, Queenie, January and February are cozy months when indoors. I do enjoy that about winter. Shoveling snow and taking the dog out several times a day get old fast for me in the winter months though. It's good to dwell on the positive though. Many cups of hot (herbal) tea are helpful!
Mon, Tues, Wed of this week successful. Be back tomorrow with Thurs report. |

We get so little snow where I live that shoveling is fun. Plus I have very helpful neighbors when it comes to clearing away snow.
I do understand that dog walks are much pleasanter with warmer weather.
Good to see your week continuing green. |

It's going to start warming up today, and warmer on through the weekend.
Walking outdoors is planned this afternoon.
Successful day yesterday. Successful week almost completed...I believe I will!
Planning to bake a homemade dessert this weekend and having company
for dinner on Saturday.
I have put away the bathroom scale until April 1st. I keep forgetting and
start to go to weigh myself, but then I realize that I don't think I have
ever gone for a month without weighing myself (not in many years anyway)
so this is new. It's all part of getting away from "diet mentality" and just
keeping focus on good habits. |

I baked apple crisp and blueberry muffins for the past weekend.
What muffins weren't eaten are in the freezer.
More later. |

Success yesterday (Tuesday) and so far so good today.
Going to take a long walk again today--the Spring-like weather is great!
Tonight I'll build dinner around thrifty leftovers from last night.
Actually we almost always eat at home, which I very much prefer. |

Yesterday (Wednesday) was successful.
My cold has worsened so i won't take a walk today.
Resting as much as I can.
Using Ricola (contains sugar) because I need them.
Since it's a Sick day, that's OK so no worries.
I'll still not snack or take seconds or have sweets today of course. |

I finished the week successfully.
Since I still have a bad cold, I haven't taken
my long walks the past couple of days. I did
manage to take a half-hour walk yesterday.
This weekend I have blueberry muffins in the
freezer that I can eat for a treat (saved from
last weekend). I'm not sure if I'll make anything
else. I probably won't unless I get to feeling
much better. I'll be back next week. |

I had a nice weekend. I ate the rest of the blueberry muffins that I baked & froze last weekend. Also bought a Clif bar for a treat. That's it for the sweets.
I did have seconds and less structured eating during the weekend (which means snacking around). It didn't feel quite right though since I'm starting
to get used to a more structured way of eating during the week. I think I
am really starting to prefer a structured, routine eating plan. |

Wednesday was a successful day--it almost wasn't but I made it through after all.
I wasn't going to peek at the scale until April 1, but it's midway through
March so I decided to have a look. I'm down two pounds at the moment.
Feeling slimmer so I'll believe it. I'll try to leave the scale hidden away
now until the beginning of April. |

Thursday and Friday were successful No S days.
I baked a date nut loaf tonight to eat this weekend
(but not the whole thing).
Also I'll probably bake an apple crisp on Sunday.
Was able to walk every day this week. It's getting
cold this weekend so hoping I'll still walk Saturday
and Sunday--we'll see. |

I had a lovely weekend. I baked a date-nut loaf and shared it with family and visitors. Last night I made an apple crisp, we ate most of it and there is
a little bit left which my hubs will eat today--it's off-limits for me on this Monday.
I did eat more than on weekdays and I believe that somehow those weekend
days of eating more might increase metabolism. I'm glad to get back to
structure and routine during the week though. It feels good and right to have
the self-discipline of structured eating, but also it is a comfort to know that
I can break away from that at allowable times. |

I'm so glad it is Spring and I can walk so much outdoors
again! Feeling stronger every day. |

You're doing great and your baked treats sound lovely! Enjoy that weather. It's starting to get too hot here to walk.

Successful Wednesday. We ate at a restaurant for dinner
and I ate one plate of food. No dessert. I was satisfied. |

Actually I do feel some 'bloated' after my big Easter weekend, oohlala.
It might affect my weigh-in on Friday (I'm planning to post my weight
monthly)...I'm not going to let it bother me though. I really feel like
I'm settling in to this approach to eating for good. It feels right.
Onward! |

Successful Tuesday. Wednesday going well. Motivated by my weigh-day
coming up. Really though, I'm enjoying the process of practicing good habits
just for its own sake...and for my own sake. |

I know both feelings. It's pretty hard not to feel a bit of incentive from a weigh-in, but the scale can't make us feel lighter and peppier day after day. Than again, maybe if mine showed actress weight every day, it could. But I notice when I don't get too full, I feel skinny, and that was true when I weighed 40 lbs. more! _________________ Count plates, not calories. Three a day. 8 years & counting

I agree, oohlala...I do feel skinnier when I'm not feeling full. Lean, but not
too hungry because I'm enjoying that not-too-full feeling.
I weighed myself this morning and I've lost three pounds during the
month of March: from 136 to 133. BMI is now 25.1
Successful week so far and there's no reason why today won't be either--
I am determined. |

Yes, a nearly normal BMI again!
I had a successful week, and now for the weekend.
Last night I was at a friend's house where they were
having cake. They insisted on sending home a piece
of it with me (for eating this weekend) and I ate it
already this morning. I baked something last night
for the weekend also, but it was a total flop and now
I plan to throw it out--it actually is inedible. |

Yes! And even better, now it's Friday!!
Successful week so far. There's no reason why Friday can't be the same.
I'm thinking that instead of baking this weekend, I will find one or two
quality and delicious treats for myself at a cafe or a bakery perhaps.
Looking forward to it. |

A wise decision, IMHO. I think often of a little story I read about a French woman visiting in America listening to women at a party talking about baking. The French woman said, "Why so much talking about making cakes? That's what the patisserie is for." The author also said at that time that cake would be served only once a week at a family event and there would be no leftovers. In royals! _________________ Count plates, not calories. Yes, that's a wise woman I'd say, to shop at the patisserie. Portion control
and convenience; quality and limited quantity. Actually I love reading the "French Women Don't Get Fat" genre of books, that whole lifestyle is appealing.I do enjoy baking and haven't baked much at all in the past several years. I don't mind baking, but I'm out of practice, and too much of the end product in front of me is a problem.
Today I went to a local bakery and bought a chocolate croissant. That
was my lunch along with a cup of tea. The fat content of it ought to keep
me satisfied for a few hours! |

My mentors for French ideas were William Clower and Anne Barone (who unfortunately to me was a real fat shamer, but her other ideas were very helpful). But I have had other influences since then. _________________ Count plates, not calories. Three a day. 8 years & counting

Oh my, auto, a donut sounds good. Maybe I'll have
one next weekend. There's a local donut shop where
I would walk and buy a fresh one!
Oohlala, I am familiar with Anne Barone but not
familiar with William Clower--looks like he has a
Mediterranean diet website. I tend to eat that type
of foods mostly.
My plan worked for the past weekend. It made it
possible for me to not go overboard on sweets.
Monday has been a success. |

Clower's book i read before No S. Published in 2003, but I'm not sure when I saw it. Stumbled on it at the library. I'm surprised it has as many reviews as it does on Amazon, but I appreciated the influence, though I'm more cautious about some of it now. The French don't have particularly low incidences of Alzheimer's even though their habits don't make them obese...

There is actually a lot of Alzheimers/dementia in my family background.
I'm pretty sure that sugar isn't the best thing for preventing or delaying its onset. Two things I do: I have turmeric every day and I eat blueberries often. My sugar consumption is minimal and has been for years, at least
compared with many--I know I could do better. |

Successful Tues and Wed...so far so good this week.
I'm eating more salads now that the weather is warming up.
Tonight's dinner was half of a plate of salad, and the other
half of my plate was lentil curry with brown rice. |

Have to admit that though I know there is no use in regretting the past, sometimes a thought floats up that I wish I had been less relaxed with my S day sugar-eating earlier on. But, I wasn't the same person then. _________________ Count plates, not calories. Three a day. 8 years & counting

Right, we are not the same people that
we were in the past. I'm glad to be ever
evolving...for the better I hope. Anyway
change is inevitable so might as well make
improvements as time marches on.
I'm having a sensible weekend. Moderate
amount of sweets so far. Had a "purple
cow" with lunch, but made it with white
grape juice so I called it a Charolaix! 😄 |

It feels more difficult to get back into the N Day groove this Monday, but so far so good. I think it's mostly because I'm very tired after an extra-busy
weekend and I didn't sleep well at all last night. Being low on sleep can
cause cravings I believe. Dinner almost ready and then I'll stay strong
tonight--I'm determined. |

Successful Monday accomplished.
Tuesday going well. I had a Costco slice of pizza for lunch.
Now it's time to start preparing dinner. Planning to take a
long walk this evening after the bright sun is not so hot and
glaring--the bright light causes a lot of headaches this time
of year. |

Good walking weather in the evenings.
Looking forward to a weekend social event
and that is where I'll have a dessert on
Saturday. I'll have a sweet on Sunday too,
probably and I think that will be all. That's
my plan. |

I eat these days. One slice--portion control.
Probably once a month or less. I ignore the
samples throughout the store.
