First, I want to thank everyone for their encouraging thoughts and support. I have tried NoS a few times already, and am coming back to once again.

At the end of the day tomorrow, I will hit the 3 week mark (again). To inspirite myself, I reread the NoS book. As a result, I've really noticed lately my husband's eating patterns. He definitely needs to lose weight.

I had a serious talk with him the other day. I asked if he could try just one aspect of NoS for now, to see if he could start losing weight. I noticed that he would have large second and third plates of his favorite meals. I told him if he just limited himself to one plate per meal, that would make a huge difference in his total caloric intake.

He has agreed!!! :D We'll see if we can get him to go more of a full blown NoS, but I'm so excited that he is willing to take on even the one component.

I hope to be reporting back with good news for both of us in the future.

Thanks everyone.

I have similar issues with my husband, too. He eats nutritious food, but his portions are just way too big (he snacks, too). He's not overweight, but he's only 23. I'm sure when he gets older and his metabolism slows down, his eating habits will cause him to gain weight.

Oftentimes, he'll take seconds or thirds at dinner. He also snacks while I'm preparing dinner--which I can't stand. I see it this way: I'm spending an hour making a meal from scratch, can't you wait just a little while longer and eat THAT instead? He doesn't see it as a big deal, and I guess most other people don't either--but after becoming indoctrinated in the ways of NoS, it really bothers me.

I've sung the praises of NoS to him many times, but he's never expressed any interest in following along. I guess he won't feel the need to change his habits until he gains weight.

My husband was SKINNY until he was in his thirties. He does have to watch his weight now, but exercise and not drinking much seems to take care of it for him.

Yeah, I think it's the case with a lot of guys. My husband's dad, who is in his early 50s, isn't overweight but definitely struggles to maintain his weight, and my husband himself used to be really overweight til he was about 13 (at that point he started eating healthier foods, but I have a feeling puberty also had something to do with it, as the same scenario occurred for 2 out of his 3 brothers, too). So I definitely think at some point my husband's weight will start to creep up when he gets older if he continues on the path he's currently on.
