Sugarfree gum?

Post by Beth » Tue May 10, 2005 3:31 pm

What are the "legalities" of chewing this between meals? Just to give my mouth something to do? I drink lots of water and tea during the day, but sometimes I just need to work the ol' jaw without breaking my no-s plan.

It is officially legal. Go for it.

Burns calories, too, apparently:

Not a whole lot, obviously, but it's hilarious that they measured this, and hey, take what you can get.

I've found that chewing a piece of gum also helps me to fight off my mid-afternoon cravings for candy.

I'm relieved to hear this is OK. It's one of the questions I was going to ask.

Oh, yeah, chewing gum helps a lot with fooling my mouth into thinking its eating. I'm rather oral, always putting something in my mouth (it took a long time to wean myself off of the 'chewing pencils habit'). After all, what's better - a piece of sugar-free gum, or a bag of chips or a chocolate bar?
Go for the gum. :)

Being a rather odd child, I used to chew my wax crayons. I could never work out how my mum knew that until one day she pointed out my rainbow coloured teeth in the mirror!

Yeah, the gum has *got* to be better for me!
