I plan on drinking myself into oblivion. Does that count as an S-day?

Absolutely!

Fresh heart shaped waffles with berries for breakfast, any chocolates I can get my hands on (maybe even make some if I have time) and something very sweet and romantic for desert. I was thinking of making turkish delight semifreddo cut into heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a requirement, but it's close :-).

I for one plan on overtaking those caribbean islanders in terms of cocoa consumption (at least for a day).

Reinhard, I forgot to tell you in that drink post....I have decided to save my hot chocolate/cocoa for S days! I think I was trying to fence around the law with my post in that thread! Thank you for enlightening me!

Hmm, I'm not actually sure if I am or not! I don't really have a reason to - no date, and I usually don't celebrate, so probably not...but some of the candy that you guys are mentioning is making me think that maybe I should, haha.

Celebrate being single and loving yourself. That is what I used to do!
I don't think I will be too bad on V day, though.
Hubby is a sweetheart but we will see if he remembers V Day and the first anniversary!
So, when I "S", it will probably be chocolates I buy for us or a special dinner I or he makes.
We both have to work that day but we do have dinner plans on Saturday with friends so, for me, that will be more celebratory.

So, even if you don't have a date...comfort yourself in loving yourself and having peace knowing that you are not married to someone who "might forget" the day! :D

Nope, fake holidays don't count as S days for me. :)

If I *really* wanted to be contentious and shake this place up a bit, I *might* point out that Jesus was DEFINATELY NOT born in December!!! Christmas celebrations were moved by the very early christians to coincide with the midwinter festival of the pagans, to make it 'easier' for all concerned.

By that take, isn't Christmas also a fake holiday...?

Yes, but there is a reason for that.. the early church considered Christ's death more worthy of celebration, and his birth wasn't really celebrated until a few centuries later. AT that time, there were attempts to calculate when his birth actually was and came up with the December 25 date. But regardless, although there is at least as much, maybe even more, commercialization of Christmas than there is of Valentine's day, Chistmas has a meaning.

Some interesting info: http://www.new-life.net/chrtms10.htm

My main objection to Valentine's day as it is is that it promotes the idea that love = money, and seems to have no other meaning than that.

I read a commentary int he paper the other day from a wife that says she'd rather come home to find that her husband has cleaned up the kitchen than to find flowers and chocolate.

Regardless, I *do* plan on celebrating a week or so afterwards, when all of the leftover candy goes on sale. :)

I haven't decided if I'm taking an S-day yet. I have no plans so far and my family doesn't do any celebrations. So probably not unless something comes up!

We do not usually celebrate Valentine's Day, so I doubt whether we will do anything.

I don't need any extra days in the week to eat treats, so I think I will wait for my usual S days.

For those celebrating - enjoy it.

For 3aday - Happy Anniversary - it is definitely an S day for you.
