Sfunky67's Daily Check In

Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

Hey Deb,
This IS Wisconsin...the land of the heavy drinkers. Besides, what else is there to do when it's 2 degrees below zero out??? :P Actually, my husband put me over the top with my last Captains...feeling good today though! :) I told you when I'm good, I'm good - and when I'm not...
I'm really going to hit it hard next weekend...we are going up north with friends for a four-day weekend (practically to the Michigan border - about 5 hours away) where the main type of recreation comes in a liquid form! I'm a little nervous about that (calorie wise), but it should be fun. We are leaving the kids with Grandma, and are going to have some well deserved recreation time. I'm for sure going to try and stick to N days on Friday and Monday, and am planning on bringing some "healthy" munchies for my S days. I will also try to incorporate some exercise next weekend - if it's not too cold and I'm not too hungover!!!
Then, my plan is to lay off the alcohol until Vegas in April. I did weigh this morning and am down 5 pounds since Wednesday, but we shall see what the rest of this week brings!
Have a good one!

Rock On you badass Sfunky mutha!!!!!!!!
(Cue James Brown's "Get up off that thang..")

Five pounds is great news!!!!!!!!
I'm happy for you! :D
But yes, those drinks are really pushing the S days envelope.. They are extras which, though enjoyable, will slow your progress..
See if you can tweak that a little bit for the best results you can get!
You'll like the feeling of being thin, much more than the temporary feeling of being drunk!
LOL..

Love,
8) Deb

PS.. I am not trying to rain on your parade by the way.. You do what you want to do.. I just felt like it needed to be said..
One of my ex boyfriends, named Jim, keeps in touch with me now and again.. We exchange family pics as he and I were pretty close and he is a big deadhead, so we share music and pics of the kiddies.. etc..
He is a postman and is in charge of a commercial walking route..Probably walks like 10 miles a day with all the stairs etc that he climbs, on top of the street route..
So his metabolism is pretty fired up.. But he is a big beer drinker..
Now going on mid forties, that beer is really catching up on him and he went from being pretty gosh darn thin, to having a hefty beer belly now.
I think, as I remember, he used to drink about 6 beers in a sitting..
One of the reasons I broke up with him..
Always running to numb himself with beer when there were any problems..
He was going through a divorce when I met him..
Anyway..

My long drawn out point is.. over time, that alcohol, when really unlimited, can turn you into a tub of lard..

Okay.. Downer speech over!
Love,
8) Deb

6 beers in one sitting? OMG!!! We are just getting started by then! LOL! Please don't feel bad about the "alcohol warning" - I do appreciate it! I definetly agree that drinking is not good for you, whether or not you want to lose weight. It really is a cultural thing - around here, anyway! It's not like we are "bar flies" or anything like that, but we really look forward to our cocktails on the weekends! We love our baseball, brats and beer in Wisconsin!

Yeah I think with Jim it was a cultural alcoholism thing..
He was half German half Irish...
Drinking is pretty popular in those countries cultures....
LOL....

Glad I didn't offend you Sfunkster mama!

Oh!!! Resisting Girl Scout Chocolate Thin Mint cookies???? Or, oooh... The peanut butter ones too!

You are, as our somewhat MIA member Sibyl, used to say, a "Paragon of Willpower" !!!

Of course if you ate them, you would have to fess up to the girlscouts and that would make you a thief, which is very anti-girlscout ethos and that would be pretty embarrassing!
LOL..

Peace and Love,
