Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). See also my <a href="/habitcal/">HabitCal</a> tool for another more formal (and perhaps complementary) way to track habits.

I'm actually a newbie! I just started a week ago today and it's been fairly easy so far. I didn't even go overboard on the S days. Today was a success with no funny business. My sis also started the same day as me so there's some extra support there. This diet makes a lot of sense. With other "diets" you never know when your next treat will be because they are always off limits or you feel like you're cheating. With this, I know that I'll have something I want on S days. Gives me something to look forward to.

a newbie party sounds good, as long as it's on an S day!
Day 8: A success. It started out hectic. I forgot to set the alarm and made it to work on time with 2 minutes to spare. I didn't have time for breakfast at home, so I was happy that I didn't grab a donut or poptart from the vending machine!

Day 9: Success!! Not the healthiest choices, but still no snacks and no sweets. An unexpected side effect: less frequent heartburn. Not sure why, but I like it!

Sure Deb, everyone was a newbie once.
That's great to hear about the less frequent heartburn. I've noticed some nice side effects too. Less gas. ( ...that's embarrassing to talk about)

Good job! It's much better to pile the plate than to break the rules. At the beginning I had to pile my plates pretty high sometimes to make it between meals, but they are shrinking as I go along.

Success
Walked 45 minutes.
Today was a lot harder for some reason. I really wanted something sweet, but I'm holding on. Day 21 is just around the corner!

day 19 Success!
still hard, but I know tomorrow i can have something I have been craving all week and that's my mocha and muffin for breakfast. 2 more days to 21! I did have a couple of pieces of gum(not sugarfree), but I don't consider that to be a failure(right?).

Go Redwinger!!!
Nope a few pieces of gum aren't too troublesome..
Maybe is you eat like ten pieces a day or something...
Congrats on your great 19 days and hope you are enjoying sliding into homebase on an S weekend...
Peace and Love,
Deb

exercise
I'm still doing well, but I'm still having a hard time fighting off the cravings after supper. I WANT more, but I know that I'm not really hungry.

day 37
Still doing well on the NoS, but not seeing any significant changes. Have worked in about 3 30-40 minute walks a week, plus parking further away from work.

did horrible this past week! 2 days off of no S besides my S days and NO exercise! I've GOT to get back on this week with better choices. I have been doing No S for over a month and I think I've actually gained weight because of my food choices. I'm not giving up though!
