Current Routine

Take a sledgehammer and wrap an old sweater around it. This is your "shovelglove." Every week day morning, set a timer for 14 minutes. Use the shovelglove to perform shoveling, butter churning, and wood chopping motions until the timer goes off. Stop. Rest on weekends and holidays. Baffled? Intrigued? Charmed? Discuss here.

Current Routine

Post by reinhard » Wed May 17, 2006 4:05 pm

It's been a while since I've given an update on this, mostly because there wasn't much to update, but the last few weeks I've been settling into a slightly new routine.

M: 1 set pushups (aka, "degraded beast") plus modified routine 6 (max 21 instead of 42)
T-W: Full routine 6 as listed on home page
R: 1 set pushups plus modified routine 6 (max 21 instead of 42)
F: 1 set pushups plus weenie routine 6 (max 14 reps on all movements)

I can bang out about 40 all the way down good form pushups, which is paltry compared to some people, but about twice the number and quality of what I could do pre-shovelglove . I no longer do any squats because my office is now 7 flights of stairs up (8 counting mezzanine) and that plus urban ranger more than suffices for legs.

The logic of the new routine is monday is a bit of a warmup, friday a bit of a cooldown.

Sounds pretty good, Reinhard. I've reduced mine to five sets of 50 a day, really good form, but I spread them out (one or two in the morning, the rest every hour or so from 6:00 p.m till about 10:00 p.m.

I have to admit that the SG has not been as regular as it should be. My back has been aching a bit.

Guys, stop posting about routines and stuff! I can't do any exercise all month and you are just making it worse on me!
