Hi Ray

I walk - but I did that before I came across this site. I live about 40 mins walk
from work and will go on foot at least once a day. If it is raining a lot or I'm late
I might get a bus - but often it is still quicker to walk anyway. I also run but am
increasingly convinced that walkign is better and more natural. I enjoy running and
do the odd 5k or 10k race but I think walking is a more natural gait and is just more
sustainable. I came across a good quote the other day - I suppose this shoudl go on
Urban(e) Ranger

"The only thing running can give you that walking can't is injury." http://www.hippocrates.com.au/walking.html
It is from a Casey Meyers book - Casey tends to over complicate the walk etc but he
makes good points.

Sledgehammer - yeah, been doing that about a month now and am very impressed. I've
been training with weights for about 20 years but this is fun and convenient. It is
totally functional and great for the grip, shoulders, abs etc.

Diet - I'm not really nos I'm afraid although it is very sensible. I don't really
have a problem with my weight now and am happy with my diet (frui, veg, nuts, meat,
eggs etc, with looser weekends/S days. If you wanted to be technical I am close to a
paleo style diet, e.g., http://www.tbkfitness.org/TBKdiet.html
, but I don't really want to introduce that here because it could cause confusion in
the group and I think in general the nos approach is ideal for those that need it. I
am a bit interested / obsessive about diet and I am always fiddling with it
anyway.)

In terms of using the systems together the exciting thing to me is thinking up your
own systems. Reinhard has given some principles, it is up to us to think, share and
develop new systems suited to our own problems and challenges. Lots of things can
change with a bit of discipline and habit....

So come on, lets get some more systems developed.

Chris

I signed up since I'm already on the Nos and the shovelglove sites.I
was just wondering how this things are used a part of a whole system
by others.Do people other than Reinhold actually following the eating
plan, swing a sledge, and walk? I personally think, of the three the
urban ranger thing might seem somewhat contrived and maybe on the
boring side,BUT it might actually have the greatest impact on health.
The confirmed walkers I know just make it a point to do it everyday
and ,heck, they seem to be the healthiest and slimmest people I know.
Any thoughts?
Ray
