If one compares 14 minutes of honest health building exercise (both physical and psychological) to the desolate land of *nothing* and sitting endlessly, just becoming more and more complacent to be a lazybones, then even that 14 minutes is progress... I never feel like "I can't do this because my whole schedule is going to have to revolve around the exercise" and in this way it never makes for a mental deterrent. I had a discussion yesterday with one of my old friends from high school, who is actually a client now... She exercises all the time because she loves to...the gym, yoga, personal trainer, etc...Even she agreed that, unless it's "easy" in terms of fitting into your life scheme, you won't continue doing it, and it won't be enjoyable. Seems like an paradox, since our goal is to "go forth and burn up calories and get in shape" and yet we want to have it be easy also. I used to attend a yoga class with her, but the class was offered at 9:30 two towns away from where I live...As much as I wanted to take the class, I just couldn't make myself "enjoy" the prep involved: Waking up earlier and rushing to get myself and my son off earlier... His school starts at 9:20... I just found it a chore. If the class ever happens during the midday I might try it again... (even now I can hear the subconscious excuses beginning) Have a great weekend guys! Love, Deb :) |
