Hi everybody-- I've been wondering what Everyday Systems referred to, and I think I have a little bit of an idea after reading some of the past postings. Is there somewhere else where it is more thoroughly described? Anyway, I love this concept. In fact, I think I may have come up with an Everyday System of my own in the course of reading all the past postings. Like a lot of other people, I have a problem with letting my computer addiction absorb too much of my time. And with a 3 and 5 year old running rampant through the house while I indulge my addiction, that can be a problem. (think writing on the walls and floors with markers) Anyway, while I was reading the past postings, the low battery indicator on my laptop popped up. It occurred to me that if I charge my computer in the morning, I can use the battery to control how much time I'm on the computer each day. When the low battery indicator pops up, I'm done for the day. Am I right in thinking that all this needs is a fancy name to be considered an everyday system? Also, I don't know whether this is kosher (as in, I don't know whether I'm allowed to point folks to other websites), but if you're looking for some everyday systems to help with housecleaning and decluttering, this website can't be beat: http://www.flylady.net/ I'll warn you, though. It can be overwhelming. Take what you like and ignore the rest. And finally, your post about your February resolution got me thinking, Reinhard. Although I don't have a problem with silly behavior (at least, I don't think I do), I do think that when I act like my father it affects my husband's respect for me. My father is a rather abrasive person, prone to sarcasm and criticism. Neither I nor my husband respect him very much, but unfortunately I find myself all too often acting like him. It probably would be a good idea for me to do some sort of monthly resolution to eliminate dad- like behavior from my life. That'll have to wait a bit, however. Right now I've got my hands full with NoS. Well, all four of my children are now jumping around my room using the pillowcases from my bed for a sack race, so I guess I'd better go. (Plus, my laptop is hooked up to the charger, so I've already bent my rules regarding computer usage.) Thanks for such a thought-provoking, useful yahoo group. Nancy |
