I have a pair of Dewalt gloves that I use occasionally...I don't know if they are available on Amazon, I got mine at Home Depot.

card workout
In an effort to keep myself interested and challenged in the exercise world I tried a new workout on Monday. It invovles using a pack of regular playing cards. Each card represents a different SG movement, and the number of reps is based on the number of the card. For example red cards this week hav...

I have to agree with David and Deb. I have some old "gym friends" that can't believe that I'm not slinging iron with them anymore. None of them believe me when I tell them what I'm doing. The results speak for themselves...I also happen to be the go to guy when they need rock moved or concrete work ...

the cannon ball on a stick is called a "Gada"...and like everything else from indian clubs to kettlebells some is now marking a "new" exercise program with these ancient techniques. I found a site where a guy shows you how to make your own instead of paying $200 for it. http://www.geocities.com/figh...

I recently have gone back to aikido classes and yes, falling hurts more when you get older. Other than the odd bump or bruise I'm surviving quite well, however, everyone in class has been commenting upon my grip strength. A couple of the guys have even asked me what my "secret" training program is.....

SG has deeper roots, I ran across this quote from Augustus:
"Only that which is well done is quickly done." How about well done in 14 minutes?

Okay Mike 23! Here goes... After reading your replies on Tues. I tried the dumbell thrusters, keep in mind I was using 10lb dumbells. I got through (or I survived) the four minutes without wanting to hurl...I was tired, but in a good way, however since Tues. evening my calves have been like knots. I...

Has anyone tried this with regards to SG?? http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=04-046-training I like the principle behind it, although I think the 14 minute rule of SG might already qualify as HIT type training. It would certainly explain the bench press results we were taking about a co...

I saw the movie last night and liked it...and I think people that are reading political overtones in it must remember that the movie is based on Frank Miller's comic book (hardback came out in 1999). It's a warrior/battle movie. Historically, King Leonidas did move against the Persians during the ti...

I didn't really mean for the conversation to take this route...I hope I didn't sound like I was bragging or anything...I just really surprised myself. Other than a novel way to exercise I really hadn't paid that much attention to gaining strength with SG. Turns out I got it. Reinhard unless you're r...

Bench update: I pushed 215 yesterday with a little help from my spotter...but I have to say that my shoulder was really sore this morning (painful even)...it's never this bad when I do SG all by itself, even after a day of adding a new movement. I would have to agree...don't rush into a twelve just yet. Give yourself some time to get used to the movements. If you can get through it all without feeling a burn, then move up. Reinhard is so right to say beware of the progress trap. Slow and steady progress is the way to great strength. Puts a ...

I have a hard time with pullups (again with the shoulder!) but the yard work tie in is a great one...I moved river rock with a buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago and after an hour he was dead meat. I'll have to think about including pushups. I have been doing squats as a general warmup lately to ge...

bench press
I recently inherited a weight bench from a neighbor that is moving away. I must say that I haven't "lifted" weights in several years because of a shoulder injury from my judo days. Long story short, my max bench four odd years ago was 185lbs. The other day just for kicks I started adding weight to t...

I'm not sure about total times 'cause I stretc...

Hi everyone! I have read several posts about music to shovel by...sounds like a great compilation CD...anyway I thought I would throw in my two cents. I've been doing this close to a month and I'm amazed at the progress I've made so far...although there are other posts about the progress trap (BEWARE!) I think this program might just be getting to be more fun the longer you stick with it. So from one newbie to another congrats and happy swinging! :P

new to sg
hello everyone. I stumbled on this site about a month ago and have been 'gloving for two weeks. I feel great. My only problem has been with a warm up. I tried the 5 tibetian rites but that didn't do it for me. A friend sent me this link: http://pt-connections.com/topfit/publish/Functional_Exercises....
