I have a pair of Dewalt gloves that I use occasionally...I don't know if they are available on Amazon, I got mine at Home Depot.

card workout

In an effort to keep myself interested and challenged in the exercise world I tried a new workout on Monday. It invovles using a pack of regular playing cards. Each card represents a different SG movement, and the number of reps is based on the number of the card. For example red cards this week hav...

I have to agree with David and Deb. I have some old "gym friends" that can't believe that I'm not slinging iron with them anymore. None of them believe me when I tell them what I'm doing. Thanks for the encouragment...I wish the unbendable are came with a fully articulating shoulder. I doinked mine again in a half-assed high fall...I think I'll be out of the dojo for a couple of weeks. It also means going back to the 10lb hammer.

I recently have gone back to aikido classes and yes, falling hurts more when you get older. Other than the odd bump or bruise I'm surviving quite well, however, everyone in class has been commenting upon my grip strength. A couple of the guys have even asked me what my "secret" training program is.....

I agree with Kevin...go talk to your Dr and get a consult to see an OT or a PT. Last time I was really injured the PT designed a program of "active rest" to keep me from becoming a complete couch potato.

Has anyone tried this with regards to SG?? http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=04-046-training I like the principle behind it, although I think the 14 minute rule of SG might already qualify as HIT type training. It would certainly explain the bench press results we were taking about a co...

I would have to agree...don't rush into a twelve just yet. Give yourself some time to get used to the movements. If you can get through it all without feeling a burn, then move up. Reinhard is so right to say beware of the progress trap. Slow and steady progress is the way to great strength. Puts a ...

bench press

I recently inherited a weight bench from a neighbor that is moving away. I must say that I haven't "lifted" weights in several years because of a shoulder injury from my judo days. Long story short, my max bench four odd years ago was 185lbs. The other day just for kicks I started adding weight to t...

I'm wondering if it would change your workout at all to put the ankle weights around your wrists...that way your making your extremities heavier, but not the actual weight all the way out on the end of the sledge...just a thought.

hello everyone. I stumbled on this site about a month ago and have been 'gloving for two weeks. I feel great. My only problem has been with a warm up.
