I like the ideas behind the nos diet and am keen to give it a go. With lent coming up I have a perfect time to ingrain some new habits that I desperately need to learn (again: at age 45!!) Just wondered if there were any nos diet Brits out there?

Good to hear from you! Have you been doing NOS for long? What's been your experience with it?

Me too! 12 days and counting although have done No s very half heartedly on several occasions. Although it's very early days, I seem to be in the right mindset this time.

Sorry, Canadian, here. I hear we share a Queen, though.

Another Brit here.
Dave Mc - are you (ie Canadians - not you personally) entitled to a holiday for the royal wedding?

I think we just get to buy the commemorative plates, no day off (and I won't be counting it as an S day).

By my count, about five years. I don't really think about it very much any more.

I started as a pre-emptive measure when I noticed an increase in the midriff, and took to it fairly easily. It was the only diet I considered, as I wasn't prepared to focus my entire life on micronutrient balancing and avoidance of anything nice. It helps that my major problems were snacking and seconds (I don't have much of a sweet tooth) and that I enjoy cooking, so switching to meals only was a fairly painless process. I've been pretty much at my ideal weight for health purposes for a couple of years now.

I don't follow any of the other systems (glass ceiling or shovelglove), but could be mistaken for an urban ranger by a casual observer.

Whereabouts in the country are you?

I'm in Oxfordshire.
V jealous of you not having a sweet tooth. Chocolate is my biggest downfall... Is it because I'm a girl?
Day one has not been perfect. Half term and cooking with the kids: incredible what unconscious hand mouth action goes on during baking sessions. I need to be more mindful. Still, am now determined not to nibble after supper so am going to clean my teeth straight away.

Maybe. But I read an article some time ago about chocolate lovers/haters and the natural bacterial flora in their stomachs. Apparently the types of bacteria found in the stomachs of people who love chocolate is actually different than what is found in the stomachs of people who don't care for chocolate.

There was no indication of cause versus effect, but I do think it was an interesting observation nonetheless.
