Counting carbs/calories is a drag. Obsessive scale stepping is a recipe for despair. If you want to count something, "days on habit" is a much better metric. Checking off days on a calendar would do just fine, but if you do it here you get accountability and support. Here's how. Start a new topic in this forum called (say) "Your Name Daily Check In." Then every N day post a "reply" to that topic as to whether you stayed on habit. A simple "<font color="green">SUCCESS</font>" or "<font color="red">FAILURE</font>" (or your preferred euphemism if that's too harsh) is sufficient, but obviously you're welcome to write more if you want. On S-days just register that you're taking an S-day. You don't have to do this forever, just until you're confident you've built the habit. Feel free to check in weekly or monthly or sporadically instead of daily. Feel free also to track other habits besides No-s (I'm keeping this forum under No-s because that's what the vast majority are using it for). New exercise protocol starting this week. Before shugging, at the beginning of my 14 minutes, I do push-ups, body rows (rings), and skip rope. This week the numbers are 10 each of push ups and body rows and 100 rope skips. Next week I will up everything to 11/11/110, then 12/12/120 the next week and so on...
It's not all that challenging right now but I expect it will be by the time I reach my goal of doing 50/50/500 each N day then shugging for the rest of the 14 minutes. After the 10 months, I may do something else.
The three days of the week I teach aikido I'll do something similar by doing 10 forward rolls and 100 sword cuts before each class. I'll gradually work to 50 rolls and 500 cuts by upping the rolls by one and the cuts by 10 each week. Doing 50 rolls and 500 cuts wouldn't be overly challenging right now, but I like the gradually increasing protocol and the mirroring of practice in the dojo and exercise at home.

I haven't been checking in for a while due to vacation followed by a death in the family.
My exercise/shovelglove has been very on-target as far as consistency.
No-S has been about 85%-90%. The no-S habit has been sticking with me without much effort on my part.

So, a few more than 300 strokes in all. I find that 300 is average for any given 14 minutes.
Yesterday, I did burpees 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 with about one minute rest between each set. Burpees are OK, I guess, but I just like shovelglove so much better.
