This chap has, in sharp contrast to building habits, been modifying many aspects of his life in a controlled manner in order to find solutions to his problems. On the other hand, if that's how your brain works then then constant analytical self-improvement becomes a habit in itself.
One thing that it does seem to agree on, from the article:
"Everybody makes these little tweaks in their life," he says. "The simplest, easiest thing will probably have something to teach you."
