OK, back to the N-Days. went a little crazy last night. After dinner (which was one plate), I had a candy bar and popcorn while watching the Oscars. It felt excessive even when I was doing it. Shovelglove can be an acquired taste. I have done it before. The key is, making sure you are using the right size sledge hammer. If it's too big, it can be quite unpleasant. I have a 10 pounder that I start out with (If I haven't done it in a long time), and then after a month or so I move up to a 1...

Baked Goods
I have no will power around good baked treats. I typically buy donuts for my staff every Friday, but can't on No-S, as the 45 minute drive from the bakery to the office with fresh, sometimes warm donuts in the car is too much for me to not have at least one. We'll see if there is widescale mutiny. Y...

Week 2, only worked out 1 day, but had 4 green food days, and my only red day was because I was ravenous on Thursday and had a bunch of grapes before dinner. Was better than the pantry raid I was considering.
Next week, 4 days of business travel, I am a little nervous about it.

Ray, I'm going to agree and disagree with you. While the calories you burn may not be huge (although if you walk 4 miles at a 15 minute mile pace you will burn 400+ calories, not insignificant imho), there are other benefits to exercise that bear directly on weight loss. Doing things like shovelglov...

Before I work out, I generally will drink a glass of OJ or some Odwalla superfood, that gives me the quick energy to get into the swing of things. Since I do a high intensity jogging/running/sprinting routine on the treadmill first, I just roll from that right into SG, with a minute to breath between.

No 8-year-olds ... aagh! (I know you're kidding!) How about sustainably harvested maple from Vermont; recycled plastic and steel; and living wages for rehabilitated ex-cons? :) Better yet if the manufacturing is done on work-release by former CEOs convicted on stock fraud. Even Better! Yes, we can ...

"(Plus, everyone here on the board will retire young, having run out and bought stock in sledgehammer manufacturing companies on a hot tip back in 2005!!! )" No no no, The No S Foundation for Wellness will have to launch it's own line of ShovelGloves. I think we are a land of impulses and instant gratification. America is about Bigness, big houses, big cars, big portions. Growth is good. Moderation is not something we value as a society. Notice the emphasis on Extreme Sports, we have Extreme Eating, and when we want to loose weight, moderation is...

See, this is what I'm talking about: Put it all together, and the advice can seem like a muddle. Nutritionists and fitness experts still stress a good way to keep weight off is to eat less and exercise more. Many point to recent government dietary guidelines, which emphasize fruits, vegetables and w...

Curse you Reinhard, You've Ruined Me!!!
Ok...woke up this morning...MMmmm...SSSSS-Daayy. Got my youngest out of bed, headed off to have a meal at Dennys before meeting family at the Zoo. Was initially going to order a breakfast for me and her, but I said to myself, Hey, I'm No-Sing, no need to go over board. I'll share a breakfast with he...

My back actually feels much better today, I have a Glutheim (sp), essentially a lower back exercise machine (got it from a friend where it was languishing in his basement). I hung my torso off it and let my vertebrae stretch out, and when I got off...no more pain, but a...

And then you have the studies that are politically or commercially motivated. Studies conducted by drug companies to see if their drug is safe. The FDA is so underfunded they just accept many of these defacto. God, you see some of the side effects on these drugs, sometimes they're worse than what th...
