Reinhard, I just started listening to SiM and will probably make it a regular thing, to get me off the NPR treadmill. My question to you: how did you find these German podcasts? I'd like to find something in Czech, and googling has provided pretty random results. Do you know of a guide or something?...

I started doing this back when I had a car (about a year ago). I never really found myself obsessing about the speedometer, and as mentioned cruise control contributed to that. I realize you're probably kidding, but I find that pacing yourself makes it much easier. You can also get ahead and have some crap you've thrown out "in reserve" for dry spells, when you're not inspired.
