Re: Retiring Bulletin board?
I totally understand your need to retire the discussion board; I'd be perfectly OK with a read-only or, if I want to, I can easily join the Facebook group. I have your book, which is really all I need! Go have fun with your family and get on with new adventures! We all deeply appreciate your dedicat...

I'm back, too, Deb! I remember you.
Although I have always intellectually found NO S to be a perfect solution to my struggle with food, I have found the system SIMPLE but not EASY. I actually yearn for it to be a seamless and no-stress way, but I obviously have unhealthy habits that are hard to ditch -- mainly snacking at night. Lucki...

The book was key for me.
I bought the paperback and I've read it about 8 times over the years. I haven't posted on here for about 3 years, but I've been (mostly) sticking to No S and, over the course of about 6 years (had some backsliding), have lost 30 lbs. I've been keeping it off with No S. I may be able to lose 10 more ...

I'm in, too. In the past year, I've had compliance problems.
The problems haven't come from the philosophy of No S, but from the fact that I have had Type 2 diabetes for 5 years -- 3 meals a day has been perfectly OK, but I've been so sick of having to watch carbs that I have no interest in food. Specifically, I have come to hate cooking (I never liked it, bu...

Poptart, although fast foods aren't the best for your body, as long as you 1)eat only a plateful, 2) don't take seconds, and 3) don't have sweets (like a milkshake), you are following no S. Plenty of people here have started out by only modifying the times they eat (3 meals a day) and by only having...

Count me in. For some reason, I have been seduced away from No S EVEN THOUGH it worked fine (although slowly, but I knew that), made my iffy stomach feel great, gave me tons of energy, and calmed my whole attitude toward food. But I can have this stupid all-or-nothing attitude where if I mess up, I ...

I have always lost weight on vacation, except for the time we went on a cruise -- dang, the food on cruises will trip anybody up. But, normally, on one of our 2-week vacations, we do moderate hiking, sightseeing, and outdoor stuff. We often eat only 2 meals a day because neither of us wants to take ...

I'm in! April 1 -- 183 lbs. Goal: to lose about 7 lbs.
I had a marvelously green day today after being gone for a while. Alas, I do have to be careful about high-calorie foods, but the structure of NO S is so soothing that I've combined it with a bit of a watchful eye on the fatty/hical stuff.
Good luck, everyone.
Good luck, everyone.

I like reading this thread, because I have been "an idiot" on my S days even though, like someone said, my "gut hurt" afterward and the stuff didn't taste very good. I must be like a dumb kid who has to eat dirt 5 times before he figures out it is not pleasant! Anyway, my goal for this next weekend ...

Wine, because it's a drink, is allowed any time, as far as I know. I also wondered whether I should consider Veteran's Day an N or an S day, and have decided to make it an N day for the very reasons you cite -- generally it is a somber day, not filled with picnics or parties, etc. I also have had to...

Yes! I eat what I want. For instance, the cafeteria at work makes killer onion rings, and every couple of weeks I will have their (fried) chicken tenders and the onion rings. Delicious! Is your plan a lunch and a dinner, or a breakfast and a dinner? Observation on my urge to snack today--emotional eating
Usually you'd think emotional eating was worst when you are depressed, sad, unhappy, bored, etc., but today I had an overwhelming urge to snack and eat all day. This election, which I have been waiting for for 8 years, has me all nervous and excited at the same time, and it has obviously generated a...

Back after several months of ignoring No S theory.
As many of you here have done, I *decided* that maybe No S just wasn't going to result in enough weight loss to make it worthwhile. Maybe I would tire of it. Maybe I would come to feel it was just as restrictive and annoying as Weight Watchers or any of the other weight-loss programs. So I stopped N...

It makes perfect sense to do that. I can occasionally put a "bad" food on my plate and not feel guilty at all. How's my first S weekend?
I didn't find it hard to do the first 5 no S days. In fact, it was easy and restful because I could have anything I wanted (except S) but had to confine it to the plateful. My only problem has been feeling a bit like I had low blood sugar a good part of the week. I assume this may be because I am no...

Yes, the bargaining was awful.
It focused my attention on food too much. If I have this cookie, I have to cut dinner in half--etc., etc. Arrggh! Awful! Thanks, Reinhard, for your hard work. Like many others here, I have been seduced by various quick wt loss diets, and by "sensible" diets (WW in particular). I have lost weight on all of them, but in the middle of my progress I would get so insane about food that I would binge. Counting calories or p...
