Gnawing Hunger Between Meals

I had successfully followed the No-S diet successfully several years ago. I have gained some weight lately, mostly in the belly area. My greatest challenge is a very uncomfortable gnawing hunger between meals. Today I have returned to the website desperately looking for strategies to get me from one...

Well, I have returned to NOS again , I think for the fourth time. The continuing problem is my gnawing hunger between meals. This is usually my only discomfort, no weakness or dizziness. Blood tests for hypoglycemia have been negative. I do have symptoms of IBS. I have tried your helpful suggestions...

Not NOS Vanilla but is this complete surrender?

Here I am again with my continuing problem of gnawing hunger between meals. It does not seem to matter what or how much I eat at meal time, I get uncomfortably hungry at the same times each day. I don't even need to wear a watch. I have reverted to two snacks, popcorn in the AM and raw veggies in th...

I agree

Thank you for your responses to "Interpretation Please". I also was thinking that episode was a delayed response of "the dumb animal" hunger. I don't remember what I had for supper that evening, I had just stopped keeping a food diary the previous week. Incidently, the diary did not show any obvious...

I have begun my 4th attempt at NoS with great enthusiasm a couple days ago. I have even overcome my aversion to computers and am using the Habitcal online. Hunger between meals is my major problem and I have been doing moderately well until TODAY. I became ravenously hungry this afternoon. I gritted...

I thought I would give this a try today but I am technically challenged. I need more direction than I found under "Everyday Systems:Habitcal". Can anybody make it simple enough for this dumb Dutchman?

Between Meal Hunger

Many, many thanks to all of you. I have tried the milk and juice for hunger between meals without success. Your other responses gave me some new perspectives. I will try the instant oatmeal with peanut butter. If that does not help, I shall try skipping breakfast until midmorning.[/b]

Between meal hunger

Here I am again. My downfall is snacks between meals. I am still searching for something to add to my willpower for that gnawing hunger 2-3 hours after breakfast and after lunch. Supper is my largest meal so that probably is why I have less trouble in the evening. I have tried everything suggested l...

I tried the celery and was able to remove some of the strings but the trouble does not seem to be worth it. It hardly dented my hunger and might have upset my stomach a tad. My next "experiment" is a violation of NOS rules I guess. I was considering 1/2 a raw veggie sandwich (whole wheat bread with ...

Here I go again...with celery

OK, I will try Reinhardt's idea using celery to satisfy my hunger between meals. I already know that I like adding fat-free cream cheese to it . I am assuming the cup of water for moisture is poured over the celery and not next to it in another small container. I am a stereotypical dumb Dutchman whe...

Here I go again

Now to catch up with your very helpful suggestions. In answer to the question about my weight loss, I only need to lose 15-20 pounds. Well I tried the hot chocolate between Breakfast and Lunch AND IT WORKED! I just hope this is not "the placebo effect". I have not tried the "different plating" idea yet but that also has promise. Thank you. I read the excerpt from "Why We Get Fat..." A problem I see with this rather comprehensive change in diet is finding substitutes for the starches, grains and sugars that do not force me to become a chef or a pauper.

Tips on Minimizing Hunger

In desperation, I have again searched this site for solutions to my between meal hunger. My difficulty matches exactly the problem described by Ariel King in April 2005. I have commented several times previously about my hunger between meals. Great feedback. Actually I do like to eat eggs, unfortunately it's fruit that I don't favor.
