Someone might say Vanilla No S plus (some other practice) to indicate they are tracking more than just No S habits, like fitness or other food rules. Any beverage is allowed, including coffee! By boring I mean: Not fancy. It doesn't have bells and whistles and charts and restrictions. It's not the circus coming to town. Re: Three Free Calendars
welcome back! my mantra has become 'maintenance is progress', which doesn't really even make any sense for me (because I have actual progress)! But I do need it on those weeks (and weeks) when I seem to be standing still or shilly-shallying around yet not obviously off-plan.

I weigh myself whenever I want to but I only record it once a week. And I allow myself to jiggle on the scale to see if I can get it to say something lower on that day if I want to. (usually I don't, but I'm allowed). It'll always be within some amount of what I "actually" weigh that day, right? Som...

I just went through a "grit my teeth and stay on no s" phase of frustration, it lasted about three weeks. I can tell when it happens, because I start weighing myself every day, instead of once a week. I still only record it once a week, but start looking every day as if something will be "happening"...

Are your meals made up of food you love, or are you eating shoulds? In my early days, my off plan eats were a problem of remembering the rules, not acts of will. I can't tell from what you say if you're accidentally going off plan and then throwing in the towel, or deciding to have the cookie and th...

Don't over think it. eat what you want. What you want may change. Unfortunately, I also find that the same things do not satisfy in the same ways anymore. For example, earlier this year, for about 5 meals (lunch) over the course of two months, I had a can of pringles. The first four, I loved. The fi...

The only thing potentially 'wrong' with obesity is that the links to health problems put pressure on health services (or private health insurance) as they have to pay for treating these arguably preventable occurances of these health problems. I don't think many people wake up in the morning and th...

There is nothing inherently wrong with obesity. It carries with it greater risks, but so do many things, and it's not like it is a conscious choice, unlike many other things. I am willing to defend obesity any day of the week. I also advocate people love the body that they are in, and if talking it ...

Habit takes energy. In the beginning, habit takes mental energy, to remember to be "good". A person has a finite amount of mental energy to spend on being virtuous. Once you cross over the line from consciously "being good" to just having the habit, you aren't using as much energy on it day to day, ...

For me that question would be closely related to weight loss. quicker weight loss is usually correlated with unpleasant feelings of hunger. basically, is your calorie deficit each day small enough for your body to ignore, or so big that it escalates survival mechanisms (increased hunger) designed to...

Re: What do you count as special days
How do you long timers handle these things? How special does a day have to be to call it special? Thanks for your input Don't worry about knowing if a day is special or not right away. If I know in my heart it's a celebration, it's a celebration. Sometimes my heart shifts a little towards my stomac...

Day 1 - 29 May 2011 - 314
Day 7 - 04 Jun 2011 - 314
Day 14 - 11 Jun 2011 - 310 A new low!
I was sick this week and didn't eat much on Tuesday, so not terribly surprised about the new low, nor terribly smug.

There are two strategies, the active "you're a big girl now" (because really, who wants to tell a toddler no snacks?) and the passive, lame snacks. When I was about that age I'd go tell my mom I was hungry, she'd ask me if I wanted a butter bread, I'd say no, she'd say I wasn't hungry. Hungry people...

On the subject of sweets, I want to make sure that it is clear that I am not some rational, take-it-or-leave it ideal of a sweet eater. More than once this year, most of my meals over the course of a couple of days came from a box of ding dongs. What I'm trying to do is not judge my sweet eating as ...
