Hi Deb, Remember, I'm NOT recommending this as an alternative to the No S, but as a simultaneous thing. I am mostly doing the oil, as it has one big advantage over the sugar water. the sugar water will have a big impact on your insulin metabolism if you drink it quickly, so you need to sip at it ove...

Well, hey, it could be. On the other hand, if it is I gotta keep those placebos coming! By the way, Dr. Roberts did send me links to some of the research papers that inspired his research: Ramirez, I. (1990). Stimulation of energy intake and growth by saccharin in rats. Journal of Nutrition, vol. 12...

This sounds both unappetizing, unhealthy, and unnatural. Are you actually doing this on a daily basis? I would like to hear the science behind this. Yes. I'm the Morgan Spurlock of dieting. The sugar water is not unpleasant, particularly if hot. The oil takes a while to get used to, but has some ad...

I've got to confess, I feel a little like a kook talking about this because it sounds so absurd. The science behind this (and I'll totally understand if this sounds like complete hooey to you) is: Your body weight has a "set point" where it wants to be. This point can fluctuate based on the kinds of...

i just went back and read this old thread after posting a new one, and I guess I didn't mention it in the new thread, but I now do feel hunger at appropriate levels at appropriate times, and it is not an issue for me any longer. My hunger is now rational and reasonable. Before, it was not, and I don...

Yay! A help for hunger on the No S Diet.

I went off the plan for a long while. The hunger was too much. This was too bad, because I believe No S is a useful approach. I've written here about my issues with hunger before. In the last week, I've been able to go back on and hunger is no longer an issue. The reason why has to do with another d...

Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday: Success

This coming week I will bump up to 4 meals, but concentrate on consistantly using smaller portions.

Two weeks in - I virtually quit caffeine, not even tempted to snack (tempted to gorge, maybe :D ) overall feeling a bit more "in controll".

Yay!

Tuesday: Success
BUT- the dinner was really a bit more large than I really feel was appropriate, despite all fitting on one plate.

Friday: Success Monday: Success I sure hope I get through today, though. I was so hungry I broke down and had meal#2 TWO HOURS early! I won't have the opportunity to go shopping for food until the weekend, so I have to make due with 3 meals a day, rather than the four I think is optimal. I'm hoping ...

Just for the record, my issue with hunger isn't that I'm sad because it hurts. The issue is that it makes me act irrationally and do stupid stuff like say: " F this diet, I'm going to eat 12 helpings of ice cold dinty moore beef stew straight outta the can! " I really hate losing con...

Hmm, it seems like I may need to allow for a transition period where I allow myself four meals rather than three.

Generally, I can suck it up and deal with hunger UNLESS there is any temptation at all :(

Hunger

Hi everyone!

My question is pretty direct: What strategies do you have for dealing with hunger? I am a long-term low-carber and not accustomed to having to deal with hunger. Now it is driving me nuts.

I've tried drinking more when i get hungry, but that only lasts for moments.

Thoughts?

Thursday: Failure, but the good kind. I learned some things from thursday's experience. I didn't have enough food on hand to pack a lunch, so I had to stop at the grocery store on my way in to work. I was still peckish from breakfast (I am actually kind of excited that I have actually been able to f...

Well, I wouldn't say it's a secret- maybe an open secret? :D

I would like nothing better than to stay with this plan long term, and if I feel the benefits, I surely will. I'm going to try to stick with it for at least three months.

And thanks for the hellos!

Mister Tut's Check in

Hi. I'm Mister Tut. I'm trying the No S Diet for purposes not only of losing weight, but of reporting on this diet on another website. Today is day 3 for me. Saturday (day one) was a success. Sunday (day two) was a success. Today, FAILURE: I slipped and had a second lunch (I forgot about a corporate...
