It sounds like a tough time. Maybe having to keep on trucking with work will turn out to be a good thing, I certainly hope so! Honestly, when you describe the puppy play date it sounds so much like some of the play dates I have for my toddlers and I feel similarly mentally exhausted afterwards. I re...

Re: Keys to lifestyle change success?
Thank you oolala, great tips!
Auto, I tried your imagining how it tastes like and in the short term it nearly ruined my resolve but half an hour passed and I felt like I already had eaten it haha! I don’t think I’ll dare doing that again until my N day habits are firm though.

Thank you auto, J and ifly! So far so green this week. I have a bad headache which might be aspartame withdrawal? I am reading all the old threads on the general discussion and came across this terrifying one talking about how someone got aspartame poisoning and now I am feeling so guilty having dru...

That is so good that you are sharing with your students. That must be inspiring for them to get out and move! We went vegan for a month before but couldn’t keep it up. We like our milk products. I wish we could though. I’m also reading through all of the very old threads on the general discussion an...

I started to drink a ginger tea at the sofa every evening as a cue that dinner is over and have found I’m now genuinely looking forward to it.

My “office” is our home where two growing toddlers ask me for snacks and chocolate every five minutes so I feel your pain! (They obviously don’t get chocolate every five minutes).

Re: Alene's Check-in
Hi Alene, sorry if I missed that but what age are the children you are teaching? Primary or senior? I am having a bad day with one of my toddlers so can only imagine a difficult older child
and when they are not even your own - I’d probably not be very good at dealing with that.

Your animal squad sounds just lovely! Sorry you had to say goodbye to one of your budgies though. We have a lovely animal shelter down the road and I just emailed the last week to see if they need some volunteers.
Also, your potential new assistant sounds promising. Fingers crossed!

I moved a lot too so I feel your pain. I weirdly always ended up making friends with other people who just moved to town and now and also took up bizarre hobbies (not to make friends but because I’m a curious person) that lead to some lovely friendships. Good luck!

Veganuary sound so good! I didn’t want to do it the same month I started NoS but I like vegan food.
I drink black tea with a squeeze of lemon. It makes it taste much better. (A continental thing I believe).

Thank you J, auto and ifly! Auto, thank you for picking that out as after thinking about it I believe this will be the key to whether NoS is a success or a failure for me - to make sure my meals are emotionally filling too. I absolutely love food and ultimately would rather be fat than not eat delic...

Re: 2020
So as this NoS weekend comes to a close I’ve been very surprised that while I made sure to get something I really enjoyed at each meal I mainly stuck to the three meal template with only two chocolate snacks between breakfast and lunch yesterday because I felt better doing that. I went to a kids bir...

Automatedeating, you described perfectly what my triggers are- the lack of me time and getting through day by day. I’m glad to hear that gets better!

I cannot believe I made it to Friday after dinner! I still have to make it to sleep time and this is my worst time but I’m still so happy. My portions on one plate have been ridiculous but I will look at this next week. My week has been a bit crazy with being sick on Monday, having two ill toddlers ...

I’m really impressed how you manage your blood sugar. My father-in-law is diabetic and he is just stubbornly ignoring the issue and I think we all know where that is heading 😢. I’m also surprised about the oats raising your levels that much. I’d be interested in my blood sugar levels after each meal...

Thanks automatedeating. Although only once my NoS habits are established. No idea how long that will take! It’s day 5 of my first week. So far I definitely overate within the confines of NoS so will have to look at my portion sizes a little bit next week. It’s a difficult one as I don’t want to feel...
