I'm bowing out of all discussions here. Having a differing opinion is only welcome on this forum so long as you still endorse the touchy feely pity party mentality when it comes to accepting personal responsibility for failings. Anything I screw up, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR, end of story. Be that gettin...

I'm looking forward to not being able to eat sweets this coming week. For me, sweets have the tendency to replace real food. Instead of eating a normal breakfast this morning, I ate the rest of my treasures and the ice cream. Then a long time later, I ate a normal meal, which turned out to be suppe...

I like it! I totally intend on being one of those "Oh you want Oreos, and Cookie Crisp Cereal.. well,TOUGH!" moms... Just like my mom was :) That's good to hear. A bit of good old fashioned discipline always goes a long way to making children into well balanced and respectable adults. It's great to...

Weigh 136 this morning, ate Sonic onion rings yesterday and two pieces of angel food cake - honestly I would have preferred the cake without the gooey icing (our friend always does the fluffy icing thing) - would have loved fresh peaches or strawberries instead. The icing kinda had a shortening on ...

Re: Popping in to say "Hi" again...
My first recollection of being addicted to food and dieting was at age five when a doctor told me I should lose five pounds. That chump should have lost his license to practice. I agree. If indeed a child has a weight problem (with the exception of those that are already morbidly obese), the goal s...

I couldn't believe how much food he ate when he was super heavy ... On a normal friday night he would have 2 large pizzas, 4 fried chicken pieces, 4 cheeseburgers, a big bowl of ice cream, 1 sub sandwich .... all by himself and in one sitting !! The take out restaurants must have seen it on their p...

Note: Chinese food was a disappointment; because we're on a tight budget, we've really cut down on take-out food. This was a treat, to order from our favorite Chinese place. But I wasn't very satisfied with my dinner because I just wasn't that hungry after my afternoon snacking. Maybe slowly but su...

The conventional wisdom that exercise is essential for shedding pounds is actually fairly new. As recently as the 1960s, doctors routinely advised against rigorous exercise, particularly for older adults who could injure themselves. Today doctors encourage even their oldest patients to exercise, wh...

You are right that Weston does jump to his conclusions a little prematurely and are wise to be wary of that. I've yet to read of one recorded case of a heavy/all meat culture living longer than the western average, let alone the long lived zones such as Okinawa, some of the Greek Islands, etc. The M...

I'm glad to hear the operation went well, Berry. Take care of yourself as well as your husband and don't be too tough on yourself during this hard period. If you can simply maintain things that's a huge leap ahead than simply backsliding like most people do. The stair walking is an excellent idea too.

8/8/2009 Saturday: Evening Luddite FAILURE - Stage 2 (TV and the Internet off at 11pm). I stayed up watching a late night movie until 1am. Even though it was Saturday night I really don't want to do this if I can help it. The movie wasn't even good, hardly worthy of a failure mark on my HabitCal. Ur...

I saw it and opted not to respond to him because I knew Reinhard would take care of it. I forwarded the heads up to him just in case he didn’t see the thread. It's the fact this place is so friendly, clean and flame free that we've only had one troll in this long a time. I think we just keep doing...
