I guess it's my yearly attempt at sanity. At least with eating/weight/self.This past year has not been kind to me. It's been a parade of illness, injury and death. Literally.
I long for simplicity.

Yes, I had the best success with Shangri La. I used cream for my flavorless calories since I couldn't cope with the oil. About a quarter cup an hour after dinner. I didn't change anything else. If I hadn't experienced it, I would never have believed the effect. I experimented with IF on a 14:10 sche...

So, yeah. I'm back. Mostly. I just had this moment the other day - maybe more of a collection of moments over the last year or so. I'm just so tired of all of it. I'm tired of feeling like I'm 'less' because there's more of me. Of the stupid things that leads me to do. I don't even want to say what ...

Randomness
Dandelions. Just when you thought you saw the last of them, up one pops again.
I'm not even going to pretend this check-in is going to be a daily thing. It might be. For a while. But then probably not.
More later when my battery isn't about to die

9/14/09. I remember it well. I had just read somewhere about NoS and was so convinced, I found this board and jumped in right away. I never did have great success with it, which made all the bright shiny promises of other plans all the brighter. They did work for a time, and even one of them resulte...

Hi all! It seems about right for one of my random check-ins. I'm still doing Shangri-la, and doing okay. I went through a patch where I didn't lose, but I tweaked a few things and got things working again. It's a lot slower than it was in the beginning, but slow is better than none. I am also doing ...

I"ve been hearing about your heatwave. Not fun times. I have been experimenting with sourdough bread lately. I haven't found the 'perfect' loaf for my family, but some of them have been very good. It's a little hot to be baking bread, but we have a cooler, and I do it early in the morning or late at...

That sounds like fun :) I find I drink a lot of calories in hot weather. I had always heard it was a terrible thing to do - but the weeks I lost weight the best, where the weeks I drank a lot of sweetened drinks. I didn't plan on it - it was just hot and I didn't feel like eating, but I was thirsty....

I didn't know your husband had a heart attack. How scary that must have been! How is he doing now? How are YOU doing? The eating advice for heart patients has been evolving so much lately - I can't even imagine how tough it is to choose which to put your faith in. They're so different. We have had c...

Yes, it's very sad. They want to keep the information available, and maybe find another discussion site - like a FB group or something. If they've made a decision I've never seen it mentioned. Today is not hot and I love it. We had a little rain this morning, and it's keeping the temperatures down. ...

There is a forum, sethroberts.net but over the past year or so, it's gone very quiet. However, there are thousands of posts full of other people's experiences. Oil is the main source of flavorless calories. It's easy to get a lot of calories in one go, and doesn't require refrigeration or 'fixing'. ...

Happy weekend! It was a tough work week, but I'm actually taking time off this summer <gasp!> so I have a lot to do before I go away. That makes it a whole lot easier to take :) Things are going smoothly in shangri-la land and my weight continues to go down slowly, but steadily. I don't do well in h...

On the cooked tomatoes - when I had stomach problems (h-pylori) the doc said cooked tomatoes were one of the worst offenders - and it was certainly true for me. chocolate and dairy weren't much better, but after I got off the meds, I was able to re-add them gradually and now I don't have a problem w...

I am so glad I tried it. It sounded so silly - not to mention impossible. But, I figured it wouldn't cost anything to try it, so I did. I could not believe how well it worked. I've been at it for five months and I still can't get over it. I'm normally a 'healthy' eater, have a busy, non-sedentary jo...

Hi all, So, when I was last here, I was not looking forward to medical investigations. It was a long haul. You know how it is. They start with the least horrible and eliminate those, before they send you to the specialists. It was not a fun time, but it could have been a lot worse. I had a followup ...

Though I've been a member of this group for several years, I've never been one of those who is consistent here. It seems I'm the type who needs a change every so often. To 'Shake things up'. Your comment about 'icky sweet' jumped out at me. I really think having the freedom to eat anything leads to being more particular about what we eat. So that so often things we used to love - and maybe eat to excess are suddenly not so appealing. It's like are free to realize what they are truly lik...

No success on the boots...this time. However, I did find three pair of shoes I liked with various heel heights. It feels a bit uncomfortable spending money on myself, but I will just have to get over it  We had crepes for breakfast this morning and I'll be making one of my favorite soups for d...
