tskb- Your body must adhere to the laws of physics. When you expend more energy then you take in (the energy you take in is measured in calories) then you will lose weight. It's really that easy. No-S is a way of keeping your calories in check by accounting for the ways that most people consume many...

Well, sanity, I hate to break it to you but honey contains the same basic sugar units as cane sugar (fructose and glucose). I'm a big fan of sugar in all it's wonderful forms, but since it packs so much energy in such a little space I do try to consume as little as possible until the weekend. Speaki...

week 2 update

Thanks Deb and misplacedpeg. It feels good to see the numbers on the scale going down.. Today was my second weigh-in since starting my modified no-s plan and I was happy to see that I had lost 5 more pounds this week. That's actually slightly more than I lost the first week which is nice to see. So:...

week 1 update

Well I've officially completed my first week on my modified No-S diet . I would have to consider this first week as a success. I dropped 4.5 pounds and that figure is as of tonight, meaning I'm down 4.5 pounds even after a two days of ice cream and cheesesteaks, so that's pretty good. I've been walk...

I've read that book and it's great, as is de Botton's other pseudo-self-help book "The Consolations of Philosophy." I highly recommend both.

Re: Difference between men and women

It seems that the magazines and film place thin women front and center, whereas most of the men I know in real life do not necessarily find rail-thin women attractive. I agree completely. There are many times in my life when I've cringed when I hear that a shapely, sexy female is about to go on a d...

Times change

I fear for some of the women here. What if they lose all the weight they want only to find that tastes have changed? My screen-name and now my avatar both come from my favorite product from the 30's and 40's. Here's an ad I found: http://www.angelfire.com/la/carlosmay/IronizedYeast.html I find it fu...

ironized yeast's not-quite-daily check-in

Hello all, I've decided to give this no-s diet a shot after years of adding on the pounds and putting up little resistance. I was introduced to no-s through a friend who lost a good bit of weight on the diet. I'm a 29 year old male with about 100 pounds to lose. Maybe a little more. I'm excited to s...
