Thanks for all the replies. I find it interesting that true hunger is easier to deal with than this gnawing mental hunger. With true hunger I can use a trick from my meditation practice, ask myself the question: Am I suffering? And the answer is always "no". But mental hunger does feel like sufferin...

21 days and having a hard time
Hi there. I haven't posted for a long time. I started No S a few years ago and kept it up on and off then fell away from it. But lately I've started up again and have done better than ever before-- 23 straight days without a failure!! BUT somehow after reaching that magic 21 day mark, all my willpow...

Confliciting Information is Crazy-Making
I've been living abroad for about 6 years but most of my media input still comes from the states. What I've been noticing lately, though I'm sure it's affected me (and my diet mentality) for years, is the various forms of "eat this not that" that pop up every day. (First of all let me say that I hav...

Jane's Monthly Check In
I don't think I can manage a daily check in, but a monthly one seems appropriate. I'm eating so much that if I lose weight it's not more than 1/2 a pound a week, so it's only in monthly check-ins that I can see what's really happening. So, 1 month of No S (March 15 to April 15) 4 Failures 4 NWS days...

S Days after a Failure
I've been doing No S for about a month now. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight, but I've been mostly successful up until now, and I've been pretty happy with how I've been doing. This weekend, though, I'm running into a "problem" with S days.... This week I had two failures. Thursday's failure was...

Good for you, Divahat! I am also new to no s, and though I haven't gotten to the place you are yet, it sure is a very reasonable way to live and eat. I agree that there may be times when your resolve is not as clear as it is now, but forarmed is forwarned, right? As for the vegetarian meals, oohlala...

Joel, As an American living in the NLs I find I don't do so well on the Dutch diet of open faced sandwitches till dinner time, especially the squishy type of bread or bolletjes you find in the supermarket. I definitely feel fuzzy if I don't have something more solid for lunch....switch to roggebrood...

Checking in
I started No S two weeks ago, and I love it!! I found that while in the beginning I would get very hungry between meals, now I don't. Wow, whoda thunkit?? I'm not saying it's been an easy two weeks. I did have a couple of red days in there, and my meals have been so large that I can't imagine having...

The problem is, Easter is coming up, and it's a big deal in our family. Bigger than xmas. 4 straight days of eating. Luckily two of them are on S days, but the others will be my NWS days for the month. I do have to say, though, that after exerting all that willpower yesterday, I'm having a hard time...

Yesterday was a tough No S day. It started with a party I was giving for co-workers. I brought all sorts of treats and aaaalmost indulged. In the end I was very strict with myself. And we also had a dinner party, and didn't eat till 8:30. I drank a lot of milk to get me through, also avoiding tempta...

Meal Times
Hi Y'all, I was browsing the daily check ins and was really glad to see some examples of what people ate at meals. I was wondering, though, WHEN most people eat? I've been eating breakfast at 6:30 (early job!), Lunch at 11:30, a small snack at 4 and Dinner at 7:30. But I'd love to hear when other pe...

Do S Days count?
Quick technical question:
I'm committed to doing 21 straight successful days. Do S days count when you add them up?

One successful day down!
I started No S yesterday. As a hypoglycemic and master of the mini-meal, I wondered if I could do No S, and (surprise, surprise) I was able to make it through the day! (I did decide that I will allow myself one small snack at 4:30 every day because we tend to eat a late dinner.) So, hurrah for me! A...

Thanks for the advice, Noel and kwidener7. My hypoglycemia is more than mild, so I know all about what would happen with a breakfast of waffles and syrup! In fact, the ONLY thing I can eat for breakfast is oatmeal. Don't ask me why, even a big breakfast of eggs and bacon and toast has me "crashing" ...

Introduction and a question
Hi folks, I came across this site quite a while ago. No S seems so sane and I really need to find some sanity around eating :) Here's my question: I"m hypoglycemic and I definitely sail on a more even keel if I eat more often than three times a day. BUT, my big problem is that when I eat the 5-6 min...
