I also do kettlebells as well as Shovelglove; I keep a kettlebell in my office at work, and do a few swings and other exercises in my office during the day, and then do the Shovelglove at night after I come home. I think the two complement each other very nicely. I agree about the two complimenting...

Re: more than a 20 pounder?
Hi has anyone gone heavier than 20 pounds Well....somebody sells heavier hammers just for workout purposes: http://www.torqueathletic.com/ns/category.php?prod=MA04-1 WAAAAYYY too pricey. Plus, I think they make them up on an "as-purchased" basis. Call it a hunch, but they don't have photos of the h...

Progress so far (2 mo).
Just a brief hello and a couple of notes... I've been doing the 14MAD for about two months now. Until recently, I've been using a 20lb kettlebell, but I just aquired a 12lb sledge (birthday present) and have started with that. Now, I do MWF with the hammer alternated with T/Th on the kb. I've notice...

Not trying to be discouraging because if you read down into the article, there is some effectiveness. There are some health caveats, however.
Cheers!

No one is saying you can't lose weight by eating snacks. Well, no one is saying that you can't lose weight using ANY diet. However, according to the No S structure as I understand it, one increases the risk of failure by adding more complexity. The complexity comes from having to judge how much foo...

It's tough when one doesn't have support from the family. I "remember" by reaching down and grabbing my spare tire. If someone offers, try,"No thank you, I'm not hungry. You have mine." Just pile a little extra on your plate (you don't have to eat it) at meal-times and you've got the extra ev...

I think the subtext is "unrestricted snacking". Makes for easy reading. "Hey, I'm doing absolutely nothing new, and now I'm eating healthily" Also, I notice the plug for energy bars. I've eaten them myself and thought, "hey, it can't be that bad, it's supposed to be a health food." I've done the zon...

Junk food is addictive! Well put! I'm sure that they make it that way. I wouldn't be surprised that, down the road, they find out that the junk-food manufacturers make their products addictive in the same way that the cigarette manufacturers went about increasing the addictive potential of theirs. ...

About letting myself get hungry before my next meal, it isn't just my neurotic aversion to letting myself feel needy that drives me: when I under-eat and I'm out on my bike I start to lose vision and become weak and shaky. I suspect I'm approaching fainting. I never let myself actually pass out, bu...

Re: No Seconds: waste and excess
Hi all, me again with another knotty "driving me insane" "rules" thing. So, it's breakfast, I'm late eating and very hungry: I decide what to have - it's going to be poached eggs on beans on toast. I have my plate, my eggs, my beans - only I have this unusually small loaf of bread and I'm thinking ...
