Your idea of choosing clothes the night before is a good one. I already set up coffee and breakfast in advance... perhaps doing dinner dishes a little earlier, so I can unload the dishwasher in the evening instead of the next morning... Hmm. Fifteen minutes doesn't sound like much, but to me every ...

I do think that genetics play a role, because people tend to have different metabolisms. With that said, genetics is not destiny, and a tendency turns into an excuse FAR too often. Genetics does play a part, and yes, you're right that it isn't "destiny". Very very few people are genetically doomed ...

Hi... I'm back, too. I've uh... well, I've gained a lot of weight, but I'm sorry to say that it's more from not using a glass ceiling rather than over eating calories. (You have too much to drink, your judgement is shot, you eat too much, you feel bad in the morning, and blah blah blah). Yes, I know...

Breakfasts: REAL Oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts and some half-n-half is a favorite breakfast. I don't mean that instant crap that tastes like wallpaper paste. I mean real, rough-cut rolled oats. Much different and a far better flavor. Quinoa with salt and butter is another fave, but I don't have ...

Re: Suggestions for SG with fractured ribs?
I fractured a rib last sunday riding my motorbike. Haven't done any SG since then, but my back is _really_ starting to play up. I think it's in sympathy to the rest of me? Anyways, one thing I know that fixes me up pretty quick is some nice SG workouts... however I am reluctant to do this what with...

Okay, now I get it
I'm going to start recommending this diet to everyone in the world. (Stop laughing at me). I just went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. The portions? HUUUUGGEEEE. Gigantic. It would have been about two regular dinner plates of food. I quietly cut my meal in half while chattering away with my frie...

On Being an Idiot
I know technically you can't fail on an S day, but there is also the admonition that one should not be an idiot. God, on Saturday, I went crazy with the chocolate, and found myself not wanting to eat much on Sunday until late in the day, and then didn't feel very good after eating. Feh... You know y...

Not quite a recipe
I discovered a nice breakfast grain for them as likes such things. Quinoa. Yeah, yeah, I know, a lot of you prolly already cook with it. I've been enjoying it for breakfast just with butter and salt -- like grits, only with a much higher nutritional content! I find this a good "stick to your ribs" b...

NoS and Kids
I'm curious about the parents here (and I'm one). Let's say that yes, you believe that eating three meals a day and saving snacking for special days is the way to go. Do you encourage that in your kids as well? I ask because I was just out with my son and we passed a Ben and Jerry's store. It's not ...

Changing a habit, especially a long-term one can be hard, especially when there is a lot of emotional investment in it. Alcohol is an individual choice. Reinhard uses the "glass ceiling" and permits himself up to two drinks a day. Some people place it lower. Some people choose not to drink at all. Yes, some body fat is indeed necessary. I find it frustrating when people don't realize that a size zero (unless you're a size zero at ~18% body fat, which is unlikely in the extreme) is as unhealthy as a size 24 (unless you're a size 24 at somewhere around 24% body fat, which is unlikely in the ext...

You know, the HabitCal is insidious. I am sooo wanting to blow off my swim today, and what's keeping me from doing it is that I don't want to have to put that red mark on my swimming habit calendar. Well, I got cleared for Urban Rangering, and would make a bonfire of my crutches, but they're aluminum, so I can't.
