I use the scales, but only about once a month. I'm only losing about a pound a month, so that fits. I don't have that much to lose really, so I'm happy with better habits and slow loss. If I weigh myself one Friday and the needle is wavering, then I'll weigh again the following Friday, by which time...

What does it feel like when you are hungry? It really helped me to consciously go through the symptoms. Mine are (in no particular order - it's not a progression): a) a mild 'sore' feeling in my abdomen b) shakiness c) a feeling of edginess. I've learned to ignore a). I often go to sleep with a mild...

I didn't mean to discourage you
laura corin, yes I can do it. It is unneccesary for me to put 3 tbs melted butter on my veggies every day! It isn't necessary for me to eat a whole pizza in one sitting. And on and on and on... I don't ever want to eat like this again. I believe that 1 year is plenty of time for me to learn a new a...

It might be possible
36 kilos over 12 months is 3 kilos a month. . Just for comparison, however, in my first six weeks of NoS (completely compliant, moderate exercise - walking dog, digging garden) I've lost two kilos. Over 12 months that is about 17 kilos. NoS, for me, is about a long-term change in eating habits. Tha...

I am on one three medium and one small meal a day
This is my third time trying the NoS diet, and this time it seems to be sticking. I didn't seem to be able to get through the gap between lunch and supper (including being in the kitchen to cook for the family). So I have a small meal (okay, it's a snack, but a scheduled snack) at about 5pm. It's al...

Thanks
Rather than tweaking No S can you add exercise or something like a new hobby to the weekend to keep your hands busy? The general counsel is to not get too restrictive on S days. How long have you been doing No S? If you absolutely must, maybe just pick one of the No S to carry through on the S day,...

Getting silly at weekends
I wandered away from No S but am back again. The weekdays go well and I am maintaining my weight (as opposed to steadily gaining). I'd like to lose a bit though, and I think my problems are the weekends. My good weekday habits are not transferring to the weekends: I'm eating tons of stuff - mostly h...

Thanks, everyone
I don't eat much meat and avoid saturated fats in general (trying to wean myself off statins) but I can certainly add in some whole grains/pulses/beans at lunchtime. I'll tell you how it goes.
Thanks again

I think that's good advice
Hi, and welcome, My 2 cents worth is: avoid the virtual plating, which can just be another word for snacking, at least in the beginning. However, I'm often shaking as I cook, even with a cup of milky tea to hand. We eat breakfast at 8 and lunch at about 1pm - I don't think the children could wait m...

Evening problems
I've been following NoS for about four weeks and have dropped three or four pounds, so I'm really pleased. I find the new rhythm suits me. I'm 5'4" and weigh 142 pounds now. I have to plan meals around the rest of the family and I'm having problems with evenings. My children have a lot of evening ac...

Why the Starbucks prohibition?
Yes, coffee and tea, even with sugar added, milk, and juice are allowed between meals. Sugary drinks like sodas, most coffee drinks from Starbucks and similar places are not allowed. My small skimmed milk decaff cappucino from Starbucks isn't very different from a coffee that I'd make at home. Does...

Failure, but only a tiny one
I ate a couple of crumbs of cheese, a taste of Marmite (seems like I was craving something savoury) and then a spoonful of fish left on my son's plate.
Today I've taken a deep breath and rededicated myself to not snacking.

Laura Corin's check in - new at this
I've been on the diet for about a week - no failures so far. I'm pretty close to vegetarian, so I'm loading up my plate with lots of veggies to keep me satisfied to the next meal. I was previously eating very healthily, but just all day long. I weighed about 66kg, which is only just normal on the BM...
