Do you plan your treats for S-days?
Do you think ahead about what indulgence you will have on your S-days? Or do you avoid thinking about it until the day comes?

I think you did well. I actually often eat my breakfast in the car. It is the hardest meal to get myself to sit for because I feel I should be getting ready or doing housework I didn't get to the night before. But on the freeway, I can take my time, chew, and enjoy the morning light. But the questi...

Thanks koopa We did go to one last week that is about 5 minutes from home. It is nice but secluded because the walking trail goes through the woods. So I didn't feel so comfortable with that one. I will have to peruse the area to see if we have one that is close by and not so secluded. I'll let him ...

What about going to a park to walk, as opposed to walking to a specific destination? I drive 15 minutes to the park that I UR at. You can also walk on your lunch break. You still get the same benefits without needing to sack your car :) I only work four hours in the evenings so I don't get a break....

Thanks for that excerpt wosnes. It is amazing that people in times past lived on small meals and infrequent meals and yet they moved much more than we do because they didn't have all the conveniences that we have today. And some how we think we are going to die if asked to go more than four hours wi...

Thanks for the comments. I feel torn about organic foods. While I know that it is absolutely better to eat things that are pesticide free and hormone free, I still wonder if the pesticides and hormones cause sickness. I mean, for those of you who read the Bible, you will notice that sickness was ram...

Thanks for the comments. It's odd that you all mentioned K2 in detail because I was considering taking this as a supplement. I do take cod liver oil because I think Vit D is so hard to get in the diet and I don't spend lots of time in the sun. I often wonder if the multi I take is just a waste of mo...

Do you take any supplements?
If so, which ones?
If not, any particular reason why?
Just curious.

I was thinking of something. I don't know that this is so, but it's looking like it. Would anyone agree with me that on No-S a 10% of one's body weight a year is a reasonable expectation, or would one say that is at the slow end? Since I am just starting I don't know how fast or slow No S will work...

How do feel about this? Is it really a just another marketing ploy like everything else we have come to worry about? Does it even matter in the long term? Could we honestly feed everybody in America if all we have is pasture-raised animals and produce with no pesticides and genetic modifications? I ...

but I don't think DH will let me. He's kind of paranoid about danger and accidents and stuff (which is good because that means he cares).
I would walk a lot of places if I could make him believe I'd be safe.

Well I guess I never considered that some people enjoy dieting and learning about dieting. That's cool, I can respect that. I guess for me it's like mental torture to always worry about what I am or am not supposed to eat and how small I wish I was. I'd like to just live and not worry about that stu...

Do you know that I didn't even realize that I was 15 pounds away from 140. I have lost about 12 lbs the last 3 months. I guess I have been so focused on the eating and so discouraged with how I look right now that I didn't realize how close I am. Gosh I may as well aim for 135. EDIT: OOPS! I just us...

At 140 I am definitely not bikini ready but I don't look terrible either. I think that I probably had more muscle underneath than I gave myself credit for because I wasn't jiggly all over and my tummy didn't hang. But I think if I focus now and really stick with the exercise I can be 140 again and b...

Yes, some people are beginning to see that the "eat every two hours" advice is bogus. I started doing research on how we evolved to the three meals a day + snacks routine and I found that amazingly in most cultures in times past only ate twice a day or three meals at most with one being a light snac...

Being overweight is healthy?
I've been reading articles that discuss how being in the overweight category for your BMI (25-30) is not unhealthy. Then why do we (especially women) want to fit a size 0? I am short (5'2) but even at 140 lbs I looked really nice and could fit a size 8/10. I think that if I can get there and have so...

This is a very informative post. It made me think of all the dos and donts the diet gurus have. You will go crazy trying to decide who is right and who is wrong. No one wants to admit that there is more than one way to eat healthfully and that the real problem for most people is eating things that a...

I have finally come to a point in my life where I just want things to be simple. I've tried just about every diet you can name and I am still 40 pounds overweight...not because the diets don't work but I just couldn't commit to them. I know that losing weight requires some caloric or carbohydrate de...
