MJ, oolala, thanks for your helpful responses. I mostly use kefir in recipes, breakfast smoothies or dressings right now. It also seems to help when I drink 1/2 a small glass right before my meals, can eat in a calmer fashion when very hungry...it has a filling and calming effect on me, is good for ...

BA, you know, I am by nature an overly analytical and a detail oriented person. And, this has been part to my downfall regarding diets many times and helped making diethead bigger over the years.... I'll see to it that I won't do that again with NoS and think as little as I can about the food, espec...

SpiritSong (I love your name :)), delaying hunger for me means eating enough and eating more protein, fat, real food versus processed, crunchy freggies (fruit/vegetables); no so-called *light* or *diet* foods. Also I've found, when I eat food that I really enjoy, when I keep myself busy and active a...

For those of us who are, or have been, well inside the obesity BMI range , there is no doubt that Maintenance ... as-well-as-weight-loss ... takes an incredible amount of continuous, ongoing difficult work. .. despite the choice of the weight-loss diet or the maintenance diet. ... even when working...

MJ, I buy my kefir in Germany...It's natural, milk-based lowfat (1.5 %) kefir, usually found in the yoghurt/buttermilk section. Mine is called "Berchtesgadener Land Kefir," after a region in the southeastern corner of Germany. :) This weekend I'll prepare a kefir based (with chia seeds) Ranch dressi...

No BS, first off, I really like your signature, much wisdom in that. I've enjoyed following your thread and smiling at your fresh sense of humor. Your life reminds me, in a small way, of life in Switzerland. We have in the northwestern part where I live mild weather and little snow, though. (sadly, ...

What do you all think about kefir or drink yoghurt (low sugar) when hungry between meals? I have re-discovered kefir and like it; it is wonderful. :) So far I have drunk it with meals but would think it is very filling when needed bw. meals. Also great for smoothies. (Trying to strengthen my immune ...

I Strongly dislike many international foods, especially strongly spiced or bitter tasting, foods. BrightAngel, does that mean you include the various bitter tasting types of lettuce in your dislike list, e.g., escariole, cicorino, or cress herbs? They are sooo healthy, especially helpful for the di...

For moments when the white knuckles give out on you... Thank you, Kathleen, for answering so quickly. I appreciate that you took the time to explain, although I fervently disagree.
