Oolala, I absolutely love my kindle. I have read maybe one paper book in the last few years. I tried Kindle Unlimited and dropped it for the same reasons Dale did. You can try books before you buy or even return a book if you know you won't finish it. I also download a lot of books for free from my ...

MaggieMae, I checked out the MIND diet too. It looks pretty good. (Definitely want to avoid Alzheimer's! My mother has dementia as well, so I may be doomed!!) It definitely cuts out sugars and recommends real foods. To me, 'added sugars' is any sugars added to my food that is not naturally occurring...

I watched this yesterday. It's very well done. I've been reading a lot about the fructose theory lately and have cut added sugar almost completely out of my diet since early April. I am 10 lbs down, blood pressure is down, headaches gone and so on. I feel healthier than I ever have in my 50 years. M...

Rea, you're so right though! All three tenants of No S were addressed. Some day the world will catch on and Reinhard will be famous! When you think about it, it's amazing to me that EVERYBODY has bought onto the idea that the FOOD industry is the one that will save us all from obesity! How crazy is ...

I've found that hour or so of hunger I feel before a meal doesn't bother me as much anymore. I drink water to help. But best of all it makes me anticipate the upcoming meal so much! And so I enjoy it all the more. Recently my husband and I went out to dinner with his parents and I worried I would ge...

"This is the best wedding gift you could possibly give yourself! ". I totally agree Linda! I think it would be a great gift for one's children too - I so desperately wanted 'rules' for feeding my kids when they were young and No S would have provided a structure to follow. With modifications of cour...

Tessy, I know exactly what you mean. I did low carb and lost 15 pounds but ultimately failed because (among other things) I realized I couldn't live my life never making and eating chocolate chip cookies! They're one of life's greatest pleasures! I'm only a few months in and I do love sweets but I'v...

I have an English muffin with all natural peanut butter (I can't stand Jif anymore!) and a banana with a couple cups of coffee. It holds me until about 11. Then I start to feel hungry and look forward to lunch. If I get hungry too soon I'll drink some water. I haven't been able to drop the Splenda i...

Hi Tess, I've only been at it for a few months, but it took me a month or so before I started to notice any loss and since then I've steadily lost about a pound a week for the past four weeks. I just concentrated on establishing the pattern in the beginning. I kind of think of it like a car travelin...

As I was walking through the grocery store yesterday picking up a few things for my work week I was suddenly struck by how much of the food in the store was made to accommodate special diets. Low fat, low carb, gluten free, and on and on. Now I understand there are many people with medically necessa...

I've been dabbling if that makes any sense. I have an app I follow but I don't always get to do it three times a week so I'm still in week one after three weeks...taking it real slow! I've also done run/walks without the app, running until I can't take it anymore and then Walking until I've recovere...

It probably depends on what S is your particular weakness. For me it's sweets so I do indulge on the weekend, but I don't miss seconds or snack during the week so I don't really feel a need for them on the weekend. I see the weekend as a chance to live without rules or thinking about what I am allow...

Finallyfull, that was the same feeling I had when the trainer at the gym told me to eat six meals a day and I just shook my head and said I won't do it! Something IS broken, and while we are still focusing on food here trying to get a handle on things, this is NOTHING compared to the skewed percepti...

Snapdragon, I will definitely try some milk before going to the gym one day and see how that goes. I'm with you - I don't want to screw with things because it is a slippery slope! I'll forget the sandwich one day and say to myself, hey there's cake, I need something before I go work out.... Supermys...

Thanks Jan! I feel so good on vanilla No S it makes me nervous to add anything, but I think a peanut butter sandwich before the gym once or twice a week should be okay. The trainer was saying that the six meals he recommends would be ok because they are each only the size of the palm of your hand. H...

Time to stop lurking and jump in!
Hi all. I have lurked here for quite some time. I figured I would introduce myself finally. I started No S in 2011 but it didn't stick because I started working full time in an office that loves to snack! Recently I have recommitted and have had a successful two months. Something that has really hel...

I'm very interested to see this topic discussed. I first discovered No S in 2011 and was doing great until I took a job at a pediatric practice with a fairly large staff. Every time someone has a birthday, one of the docs bakes a cake. Some months there are over five birthdays! Not to mention everyo...
