Thanks for the encouragement! Tuesday morning's weight = 270.5 Total weight loss = 14.5 I didn't go (as) hog wild over the weekend as I did before, so that definitely helped. My usual weigh in day is Thursday, but I think I'll just do it randomly with at least 5 days between weighings. I did have a ...

Acidity is measured primarily by a property called pH. Seven is neutral, above seven is basic (caustic, like lye) and below seven is acidic. This is an inverse concentration based measurement. While most colas (which also have phosphoric acid - the acid that gives colas their 'bite') have a pH of ab...

Not eating well because I'm self-medicating with food.

One Day At A Time, No Guilt and Move On

I will, however trumpet walking 4.75 miles on Sunday and a brief, but strenuous walk in the woods yesterday to blow off some frustration.

Yesterday was awesome-ish.

I walked almost 5 miles! :D

I ate two slices of pumpkin pie.

This morning I weighed myself, no change up or down. It could have been worse. :|

My legs hurt but the weather is too good not to go on another walk. :)

...he said you can absolutely get diabetes Type 2 if you have no genetic predisposition. According to the ADA (and other sources I'm too busy to find right now) you can't. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some diseases of the pancreas could cause Type 1 and perhaps others, e.g. gestational diabe...

Um... I certainly overconsumed on Friday. Doughnuts, Chinese - the works!

While I'm at it, Saturday too. > insert raspberry<

I'm supposed to not feel guilty but I do anyway.

However, I'm back on track and green all around since.

Mark it and move on!

...type 2 diabetes is caused by genetics and lifestyle factors - American Diabetes Association Drinking any particular beverage or eating any particular food CANNOT cause diabetes. Dietary choices certainly influence the onset and severity, but in themselves, do not cause the disease. What does thi...

Weighed myself today. 274 - so that means I have lost a total of 10 pounds in three weeks of WW and one of No-S. :) 1) 3 main meals and a nano:  2) Nothing between meals:  3) Meal quality: better than the last few days  4) Instead of reporting this, I'll just tell you if I...

ferdberfle's semi-pseudo-quasi-daily check in

So tonight marks the end of the first week on No-S! What have I learned/modded/etc. so far? I realized that a small "snack" at night when I take my insulin is helpful to keep my glucose from going too low, so I'm not counting that as a snack - it's a nanomeal (is that a term yet?). Otherwise it seem...

Thanks for your replies! I thought I'd add a few notes - things I have noticed so far. > I have decided to make Friday and Saturday my S-days. > I think I might join a local TOPS group just for the support and they have a decent set of scales. It's MUCH less expensive than WW and they don't mind whi...

Greetings! I'm jumping on board

Hello from a former yo-yo dieter even though it has been 10 years since my last "push." I had typically used WWs and could count points, with the help of intricate spreadsheets, with the best. I could stick with it too... for six months. Then I'd gain most if not all of it back. I started counting p...

Fasting blood sugar is not an indicator of diabetes until it is very high. The diagnostic criteria is A1C. If that is above 7, you're diabetic. IF you would like to test your own A1C, Wal-Mart sells a kit that you send in or, Bayer sells a meter (about 4 times more expensive) that will tell you imme...

Conclusions of studies

There's one thing about these conclusions that really rankles me. As a scientist myself, I know that the number one maxim, when determining what the data say, is "correlation does not imply causation." What does that mean? It means that, for example, the trend of people who drink diet sodas and have...
