DAY 21!

I did it! :D

Tomorrow will be Day 22 of 100 days, my next goal. By golly, I'm going to get this habit fixed firmly in my life.

Why are you doomed? Who says? My own opinion, for whatever it's worth, is that Sunday is a double-S day for you, both a weekend and a very special birthday. You should celebrate with your family and enjoy a little piece of the beautiful cake you are making. Monday morning starts another week of N da...

Almost there!!

Dinner tonight was yummy, based on an idea I got from a food network show I was watching last night: corn cakes with pinto beans and salsa verde; tomatoes and avocado on the side.

Bushranger, you are absolutely right. And not only the media people, but ordinary folks, too seem to be into this "super skinny" thing. There are stores at our mall that advertise "super skinny" clothes! To me it just looks like death.

You know your plate is too heavy when...

You have to do Shovelglove faithfully each day so you're strong enough to lift it.

18/21

As I draw near to my 21st day, I notice that this is getting easier day by day. I am still going to aim for 100 days, but 21 will be a good mileage marker.

I love rice and eat it often. White rice is quicker to cook, but I like brown because it has more texture. Most often we eat it with beans and vegetables and that makes a good meal.

These white carbs are the mainstay of my diet, and even though my weight is pretty okay, I'm still fighting/losing the battle with the roll of fat around my middle-aged middle. I guess there's a connection here, and I'm wondering if I can do anything about it. I'm going to stick with vanilla no-s fo...

Of course, we're much more sedentary now than our grandparents were. But I still think the balance you described above is important, not only for nutrition, but for satisfaction as well.

Reinhard said something interesting

In one of the threads -- I forget which one -- Reinhard said something about doing vanilla No S and getting some moderate exercise and then just see where the weight falls. I think this is very good advice. Instead of relying on weight charts, BMI charts, etc., just see what turns out to be normal f...

I didn't realize that WW was high-carb/low fat. The McDougall Program, which I did for several years was the vegan version of this, then, and I understand quite well what flightisleavin says about always being hungry on a diet like that. I don't want to dismiss or disrespect the McD program because ...

It's really hard to get out of the 'diet head' mode, isn't it? Every other commercial on tv is for Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, or Nutrisystem; everybody I know is either talking about a diet, starting a diet, on a diet, or failing on their diet du jour. You go into the supermarket, and see all the...
