Hey Donna, You're not the only person who's succummed to excessive workplace food. Oten people bring in cake, doughnuts, etc. for birthdays, promotions, and so forth. One thing I've found important is to identify the specific problems and then come up with specific solutions to them. Back before the No-S days, I used to raid the company vending machine frequently. I don't want to obsess over numbers on a machine, but I actually think I'd stress less with daily readings; I could then get more accurate, consistent readings, especially given the amount that weight can fluctuate on a daily/weekly/hourly basis. Plus if you're on the same scale, even if it's a lit...

Well, stayed about the same this week, maybe a slight loss (just under 176.) Not too bad of a week.. I was able to resist the barrage of leftover Halloween candy at work by taking a little bit home and saving it until just a few minutes ago. 8) Better start running agian... another 5K is coming up T...

Well, at 1 am, when the choices in front of you are 1. Halloween candy 2. A bowl of cereal 3. A few gulps of orange juice I am just happy it wasn't the first two! LOL.... Laughing Your choice was certainly better than what I might have chosen: putting the orange juice on the cereal and then having ...

Another church function last night, was able (barely) to step away from the cookies. Congrats on that- free cookies are the downfall of many a weight-loss program. I had a similar situation at work where some vendors were giving away cookies and office supplies. I was able to resist the cookies, an...

Hmm, I wonder which is more likely - getting mugged/hit by a car while walking home from work, or having a heart attack due to lack of exercise? Not sure if that argument will assuage your family's fears, but it's worth a shot. :) Also, to state the obvious - do you have any control over your hours ...

Suburban rangering
Well, I was doing some yardwork this weekend and was wondering how good of a workout doing various yardwork tasks were. So I had to look it up and found out, per hour: Raking leaves: about 330 calories Pulling weeds: about 360 calories Mowing with a manual push-mower: about 490 calories Mowing with ...

Well, I really am back on track. How about that? Weight now is 176, which is what I was before I went on vacation. The weather has been quite pleasant this week, so I biked to work 4 days this week (the other day was hockey day.) Now, it's time to get a few more good weeks under my belt before the h...

Of course, Dilbert ranks near the top. Off the mark is pretty good too (http://www.offthemark.com), very Far Side-esque.

Yeah, good luck with that! I've driven (even long distances) with my cats before but never flown. Yeah, do everything in your power to get her to fly with you as carry-on. Sometimes if somebody says they're allergic they wont' let you, I wonder though in that case if you could volunteer to be bumped...

Hey, a couple of my insights, for what they're worth. :) Before I did no-S I too used to snack all the time. For me it was typically the time between breakfast and lunch that got me. Different people on tihs board have taken different approaches, and both can work. Me, I just tried to make my meals ...
