Noel, didn't mean to hijack your thread. Wosnes is right - I'm sure they stopped because they COULD. However, my point is not so much that the children CAN or CAN'T go without the water. It's WHY the adults think it is necessary to put that many stations out there in the first place! Why do t...

Your post should be a sticky at the top of the forum. Your common sense appeals so much to me. You are right, of course, about not starving to death in a few hours time. I observed something today that indicates how far from that idea we have strayed. I am an elementary school bookkeeper, and was ca...

No, don't leave the board! I was just trying to keep you from making a rash, impulsive decision. Breathe........ I think maybe you are relying too much on your feelings, instead of trying to establish the habit of 3 meals a day. I tend to be an impulsive person, and I have learned over the years to ...

Compliance with rules requires willpower, and willpower is a very limited commodity. A good system of moderation will utilize this resource efficiently by focusing on building habits: semi-automatic behaviors that require little willpower to maintain once they've been established. Was that what you...

Okay, I have to brag a little bit. My daughter's grandfather (my ex's dad) died earlier this year. My daughters found out that their grandmother has been eating nothing but frozen dinners. Their Christmas gift to her was a little more than a month's worth of homemade frozen meals. Wosnes, what a wo...

Kathleen, I'm so glad to see what you've written! I have been reading your check-in since the very beginning, so I feel like I'm invested in your story :D I am going to suggest 2 books to you, since you are a believer, and you love books. I usually pack containers, but at lunchtime, I put the food on a plate. BECAUSE, I have noticed that I OVERPACK the little containers. It can look like a small amount of food, but once on the plate - wowee! Sometimes it makes me feel gluttonous! I generally eat with others, so that is a good incenti...

But Kathleen, You don't have to go off Vanilla No-S to do that! EVERYTHING is permissable on S-Days. Whether it's an indulgence or all-out binging. Doesn't matter! Can you just stick with something, ANYTHING for one month? Don't change it because you feel it's not working. Spudd is right - you canno...

Day 3 NoS Exercise [/color] This is the most enjoyable *diet* I've ever been on. I've known about NoS since the summer of 2004, but never truly exerted much of an effort to follow the rules. I agree with you Wosnes; I was trying to offer Kathleen an alternative since she does not like portion control. Maybe she could start there. Starla, I think your idea is a great place for Kathleen to start. Maybe have 1 plate of food you really "want" (the higher calorie stuff) and for seconds just have a plateful of veggies/fruit. I really believe you would be full enough to last to the next meal and not feel deprived. Just my two cents...
