I have to agree with Eddie, that the lack of preconceived notions about shovelglove is one of the best draws to it. To test this theory I talked to people in three different offices that I work in about my workout. One office I used the word warrior. Later discussions would show those coworkers thou...

One of my favorite cookbooks is the original Joy of Cooking. I have my great grandmother's copy. In the margins she had written notes about substitutions or change in quantities or times her mother and grandmother used in their recipes. There are also notes about when is the best season for differen...

Don't start Monday, start today. You CAN start on an S day. Psychologically I think it makes more sense because you CAN'T fail. Your first two days will automatically be a success. With two successful days under your belt you will have added confidence to get through the N days. You also don't set y...

Good S days develop over time. At first mine were all the junk food I saw others eat on N days. Then I started being dissatisfied with the junk. Then I realized when I was watching others eat junk I could distract myself by planning a few, very decadent, treats for the weekend. Then my treats turned...

My grandmother worked third shift for 20 years. She kept a regular sleep and eating schedule. Here is what she did: Her day started at 10pm, the way most people start at 7am. She got up, ate breakfast showered and headed off to the office. She ate a prepacked lunch between 3 and 4 am, depending on h...

I can't eat any kind of artificially flavored or loaded with chemicals anything anymore. It just coats my tongue and leaves me doing this thing with my mouth my dog does when he licks his skin cream off his leg. We aren't even talking about my reaction to soda. I used to drink 4 or 5 a day and I can...

I've notices that sweets cravings is usually a need for more energy. I found when I have PMS that cutting back a little on my veggies and increasing my protein and whole grains prevents/corrects the problem.

Crawling back with my proverbial tail between my legs

I posted a couple weeks ago about being pregnant. Good friday brought on a miscarriage. Despite knowing better I slid so far into emotional eating that I forgot what hunger felt like. Then my pants stopped fitting comfortably. Last night my husband pulled up the website and called me into the office...

The silliest was the Grapefruit Diet. I was 15 and my best friend AND HER PARENTS were doing it and talked me into it. It was 7 years before I ate citrus fruit again. I live in Florida. It was bad. But the most complicated by far was the Rotation Diet, and the Weight Watchers message board version c...

You answered your question in your own post. You ARE DOWN 1.2. You are still new to this and it sounds like you are still in the fad diet mentality. It's going to take time to shake that. As long as the scale is not going up you have absolutely nothing to be bummed about. You are doing wonderfully. ...

Book sighting

There are four copies at the Barnes and Noble in Sarasota, FL. Not in the "alphabetical by author" area of the diet section but eye level, front cover displayed, in the middle of the shelf in the "pick your diet" area of the diet/fitness section. I'll check Borders next week when I have a 4 hour lun...

I accidentally came across it when looking for information on another diet. Tried it, loved it, was lured away by promises of big losses before a Bahamas vacation, came crawling back after I had to buy a bigger bathing suit for the trip instead of an itsy bitsy bikini. After my avalanche of a backsl...

cvmom, we won't talk about how high things were stacked on that night stand sized plate. We've all been there. I had a back-avalanche while I was laid up with a busted foot. My virtual plate was the size of the night stand next to the bed I wasn't allowed out of, and I still had "pity me" seconds. If I can easily recover from that, your fence will hold up just fine.

DH not home and I'm dying to tell SOMEONE

I'm pregnant! Home test just confirmed it. While not directly No S related, it is a little related. Since doing No S I have both my food sanity and my positive body image back. Having these things I don't fear pregnancy weight gain, nor do I fear the additional 300 calories "eating for two" entails....

No S- Success . Even though I was still hungry after dinner I didn't eat. I'm not sure how much of it was hunger and how much of it was just sitting in a bar/restaraunt for 2 hours playing trivia and watching the in-laws eat all my favorite dishes. I drank iced tea and didn't eat a thing. Shovelglov...

Childish would be stomping your feet and asking as many people as it takes to find one who will give you permission to skip your swim. Ooh, a refridgerator magnet included in/with the book would be fabulous. My pre-order is set. I figure that is about the time I'll finally convince my husband to try No S. Now if only I can convince him to read somthing other than the sports page.
