No-S Misunderstandings
The solicitors in my area of our firm are rather elder-sisterly towards me. But one of them proudly told the property partner (while I was there having mail signed) that "Kathleen is on the no-sex diet". So my secret is out. Has anyone else been misrepresented and/or humourously humiliated? Kathleen.

I have a helpful mother who takes in waistbands, but I came pretty close to losing my trousers. I finally decided it was ridiculous walking around with a good fistfull of extra material on each side of my pants, so I went shopping on my monday lunch break and found that (in trousers at least) I've g...

I kept a book of what I ate for about a month to get an idea of what I was eating. Sometimes I'd work out a rough estimate of the kJ-count, just out of curiousity. I've stopped now, but I think in a month or two I'll do it again, in order to compare & contrast. I also ought to go see a doctor for a ...

My weight had been increasing steadily since boarding school and through seven years at a residential college. Oddly enough, I was content with my weight for the first time - not happy, but not constantly worked up about it either. By early this year I was out of uni and college and into full-time w...

I think weight is like investing in shares - you've got to look at the long-term picture, not the daily fluctuations. So I make a point of only weighing myself once a week (on Saturday morning, before breakfast :). And then, whatever the changes may have been from day to day, I know that overall I h...

Thanks, Snazzy. That sounds even better! (It must be terrible to be an American and only able to convert downward :) Something that puzzles me is - I eat quite a bit, three substantial meals, and am rarely hungry anymore. I am losing weight at a reasonable rate. I did go through the stage of enjoyin...

Encouragement from unexpected sources
I've lost about 8kg (16 pounds) since I started NoS (mid June?). That's out of an original 111kg. Sometimes I see it. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I sit prodding my jaw and wondering if it feels bonier. Occasional people notice the weight loss, but I don't always trust all of them (one of them says ...

A couple people at work have bought it. It seems reasonable (and is an inexpensive book for its size). From recollection, it's not no-carb and is fairly balanced - just fresh, healthy eating, watching calorie intake, etc. My only quibble after that short look was the old one: yes, it's healthy, but ...

I still go off the deep end on weekends - I felt really sick this Sunday night from an overdose of sugar (my little sister was an interstate guest at the Adelaide show and came back with toffee, chocolate, fairy floss etc) which is not a performance I intend to repeat. But although I feel sick I don...

Thanks all, for encouragement and tips. My aim at the moment is to eat some of everything in moderation. For me, this means cutting down on bread a little bit but not so much that I'll miss it, and definitely increasing green vegetables. It helps that I love brussel sprouts and broccoli and spinach ...

Two months in
I've been trying out No-S for almost two months now, and it's the only "diet" I've stuck with this long. Or at all, really. I've always been convinced that eating moderately and healthily, and moving around occasionally, is far better than most weight-loss diets... I've just never managed to keep ea...

I keep having to change my breakfast regulars - I bought a muffin for breakfast the other day and could suddenly taste the sugar in it, and yesterday my usual cereal (Australian Bush Foods, I think :) tasted like someone had poured a tablespoon of sugar over it. Fruit juice is plenty sweet enough no...
