From the other side of the fence

My husband and his family are all big on sweets. Even though my husband does not have a weight problem, he still loves his sweets and they are in the house. Sweets were a treat in our house as I was growing up. When we occasionally got soda, a bottle was split between three of us. Brach's pick a mix...

A guide not a mandate.

I agree with Kevin. For various reasons, some people modify no S to suit their individual circumstances. Setting up a structure and sticking with it is the primary goal. I read someone's plan to only give up one S a month at the beginning gradually working up to the 3 S's. For example, they gave up ...

skipped the office potluck

Today I skipped the office potluck. We have a large office so I do not think anyone really noticed. I met a non-work friend for lunch, and I ate a very reasonable and yummy lunch.

Potlucks and buffets are my downfall. Avoiding them when I can is my best bet.

I took a special day on Monday. I had three day weekends off work the last two weekends and had some special events. I had made it through without taking a special day until Monday of this week. For years, I resolved almost every day to eat better..... starting the next day. Often I went ahead and pigged out knowing I was going to start that better eating the next day. I agree that the best exercise is what is best for you; however, like Kevin I find walking or jogging is the best for me. If the weather premits, I prefer to walk/jog outside. Yesterday was my youngest daughter's birthday, and we did dinner. I assumed this would be a non-weekend S day, but I ended up marking it a green day.
